I went swimming while at a hotel the other day and within 2 minutes I checked my watch and it was black. I tried a few times to enable the screen with the double tapping and then the watch buzzed and the fitbit logo came on then disappeared with no response afterwards. I thought maybe the battery was dead so after I dried it and put it on charge the fitbit logo was flashing and it would not charge. I double checked the contacts and it they seemed fine.
I waited 3 days and put it on charge again and this time it had worked. But the screen said it was at 50%. I let it charge up to close to 100% and then went and did a workout for an hour. The battery had died less than 2 hours later, which is not usual. I can usually get almost a week out of it.
After this, I put it on charge and it would just buzz and the logo would keep popping up on the screen every so often. I let it charge overnight and when I checked it this morning it was still dead. I checked the contacts and they were now corroded. I have a feeling the battery started corroding and it seeped to the contacts.
I've cleaned the contacts as best as I could (from the info on the forum) and I've put it on charge again. But there is a good amount of corrosion on the contacts and it will only get worse.
I have only had this watch since August of 2022. Just over 1 year after warranty. I had an issue with my last fibit device just after the warranty ended, the screen started getting lines and then just didn't work. They had sent me a free one, but then the same thing happened again to that new one they sent me so I bought the Charge 5. I think I might be done with purchasing fitbit watches. They barely last 1 year with casual use.
I always take it off after it gets wet from swimming or workouts and wipe the contacts with a dry cloth. I can't keep it on my wrist when it gets wet otherwise a rash will breakout on my skin.

I appear to be having issues with my battery capacity. My battery died the other day and I charged it up to 100%, less than 24 hours later it’s at 50%
I've only had my FitBit around 1 year so don’t expect this
