Charge 5 Brand new out of the box unable to sync

Unable to sync with my Android 11 phone - TCL20 SE.128G + 4G 

After a fresh install of the Fitbit app from the play store and a fully charged Charge 5  - the phone recognized  the Charge 5 and attempted to set it up.

I performed the following process THREE TIMES including phone restart on the last run through these steps 

1. New 4 digit Bluetooth pairing code supplied on the Charge 5 entered on the phone.

2. Connecting - circle of waiting appears on both the phone AND the charge 5

3. after some time the "sorry this is taking longer than expected message appears"

4. Screen appears announcing connection has failed and advises - turn BT on and off, 3 x pulse button on charge plug to reset and retry connecting - which I do, the fitbit logo appears on the Charge 5 then I rinse and repeat to no avail!

I am able to pair successfully with all other BT devices to this phone however NOT the Fitbit Charge 5 it seems!!!

What is missing here?  Please advise

One additional note there are currently NO connected BT devices on the phone before anyone suggests I remove them first 🙂

@Wasted-Spacer have you tried restarting your phone? I have one device (not a Fitbit) that seems to forget how to talk to my phone once in a while. I have to turn off Bluetooth, restart the phone, turn Bluetooth back on, and then it works fine.
