My Fitbit Charge 5 is 6 months old and suddenly has no display (though keeps tracking all data and movements). It is only showing 5 bright dots on top of the screen (4 white and one green). Have tried to reset to no avail.

1. Using the app, change clock face to any design. The Fitbit display is back - but with the new face.
2. Change back to your favourite face. Bingo!

My screen had 5 dots, the middle one was red. This happened after I let the battery die down too far as I’d left my charger home while I was on a trip for a few days.
For me, changing the clock face did not fix this issue. I looked in the online user manual for Charge 5 and decided to try restarting it - it worked, problem fixed!
To restart Charge 5, connect it to the plugged in charger cord as if you are going to charge the battery. Now find the flat round button located on the USB end of the charger cord (not the device end). Push this button 3 times, holding it down for a second each time and pausing briefly between each push. The whole process must be completed within 8 seconds. After a couple of seconds my device was back to normal.

Glad the restart / reset worked for you, but it didn't work for me. I tried reset as you describe at least 6 times before finding the clock face solution on this forum (above), which then worked for me. Perhaps the only difference was that my battery was never flat.
Summary for other users: First try the reset function. If that fails, try changing the clock face. If that fails, try the reset function... 🙂

Nope mine can’t connect to my iPhone! Red dot at top of charge 5, good thing I didn’t pay for it! Must say it’s been a real painful experience! If not one thing then it’s another!

It appears after at least a year of problems like this it’s still an issue! Mine has the red dot, can’t connect to my phone so can’t change clock face, this watch is a pain. I’ve been having a ton of issues of late, constantly having to restart the watch! I feel like a babysitter!

I followed your instructions and change the clock face but it’s still black. I am waiting for the battery to run down to zero and see what happens. I also push the reset button on the charger three times and no change. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance

Hello, just wanted to let you know for me I got the same red dot but my phone had not ran down. I think at the time it was around 58% or so. I was taking a shower then it appeared. I’ve found lots of work arounds for this problem and it’s been going on for a couple of years. You would think they would just fix the glitch! I think one by one I’m running into every glitch the charge 5 has!
