I have already returned my Fitbit charge 5. I had a replacement Come today and it’s doing the same!
When I go into the ECG app on the Fitbit itself it says it cannot connect to phone!
Despite all permissions being turned on in the actual Fitbit app.
I’ve tried all the advice, pairing repairing and hard reset, deleting the app.
Surely the second Fitbit Charge 5 indicates this is a software issue?
I can’t return another one- it’s so inconvenient as I bought it for this feature.
Any other suggestions?

I think you have to have the premium

Before considering other options, please try to perform a restart.
I would suggest you follow these steps. Uninstall your ECG app and then re-install it. To uninstall:

I have tried this and it doesn’t help. It’s the second Fitbit with this issue so I will have to return it I think as nothing seems to help it. It’s put me off Fitbit now.

Exact same here and with the replacement. Premium has nothing to do with anything in regards to your other replies. Didn’t have it on my other and worked. Trials on new one, nothing works although it says everything is installed.

Same problem here. App cannot find phone. Everything else works fine.
Also, i cannot uninstall the app at all. It tries to uninstall and then gives an error message that 'cannot install. Please try again later'. Something is definitely completely wrong. ><

Ah that's annoying you have to change again!
Just tested again on my charge 5, and without changing any setting or updating anything... It now works! 😄
