The ECG app in Fitbit Charge 5 worked for almost two years, but now the ECG turns black immediately after the second screen (Put index finger and thumb...). So I decided to update the firmware (never done since the purchase more than two years ago), and now it is 188.58. No changes, ECG still not working.
I tried also to press three times the button in the USB cable... nothing changes.
Finally I uninstall and reinstall ECG app, no results. After the reinstall the version in the Gallery appears to be: updated nov 7 2022, version 1.88.58, but in the Info screen I read Version: 2 - 2.16 - 2.14 - 2.23
The ECG was the reason I purchased Charge 5 (I have atrial fibrillation), so now it is useless.

I tried several other things...
- on the mobile phone (Samsung A52s) in Settings > Bluetooth I deleted the Fitbit Charge 5, which appeared in the list.
- I tried finding the Charge 5 again among the Bluetooth devices, but now it no longer appears. Yet the Fitbit app works and the Charge 5 synchronises.
- Finally, I restarted the smartphone. In the Bluetooth, however, the Charge 5 still does not appear, even if it is only a few centimetres away.
- I tried using the ECG function on the Charge 5, and now it no longer switches off and I can get the ECG response again!
I'd like to know WHAT worked... maybe the smartphone reboot?

You can't add a device through the phone's BT settings, it needs to be done in the Fitbit app. Try adding the Charge 5 as a new device in the Fitbit app.
Tap on the battery icon at the top left of the Today screen, tap on Add more devices at the bottom and follow the prompts to add a Charge 5 to replace your existing Charge 5.
And it was probably the phone reboot that solved the ECG issue, when troubleshooting issues, a phone and device reboot are what we usually recommend first to see if that fixes the issue.

...too good to be true.
Today the 'ECG shows an error screen, saying to restart the app. I restart but it's the same.
I restarted both the Charge 5 and the smartphone, but if I try to do the EGG the screen appears:
Restarted again Charge5 (Settings > Restart), restarted also the smartphone...
Now I returned in the same situation as in the first message: Charge5 turns off after starting the ECG.
