It is VERY frustrating that Google keeps saying they are working on fixing the problem of the ECG app being unresponsive on my Charge 5. Nothing is ever done. I also get no feedback from Google after 25 weeks of raising this issue with them. Very disappointing.

I appreciate your feedback regarding fixing the ECG app being unresponsive and your efforts in contacting Customer Support.
Since there is already an open case within the Customer Support system regarding your particular inquiry, in this case the best path forward would be to keep the ongoing communication with them.
