@GregtheBear My replacement tracker (which I have not updated, running good battery for 6-7 days since Dec. 30, 2022), is now having the same issue with sleep not registering on the app. I am really considering this to be the last Fitbit tracker for me.

Anyone who posts with problem should include phone model and software level of phone.

@dan3458585 seems you're out of touch, there are a lot of users following this thread already and we have posted our details with our phone models and firmware versions, just look at the previous posts. if you are working for Fitbit support can you respond when is the fix coming for main issues with excessive battery drain, not syncing, missing HR, missing sleep info, etc. But anyway my phone is a Google pixel 7 which is always being updated by Google to latest Android update. The Fitbit tracker is a replacement pebble on original stock firmware 182.26. It's prompting for update but I don't want to as most people who updated their replacement trackers also are getting different old same issues. My previous charge 5 that was my original and first C5, had battery issues after the latest update, which as you can see in a lot of posts people are still frustrated and struggling to find a resolution.

I do have 1.188.58 and it is OK, BUT, it should be noted that I only got the Charge 5 a few weeks ago as a replacement for a broken Charge 4. So I am guessing that the hardware is newer than those who are experiencing issues.

I don't think the replaced trackers have a newer hardware, different than what we bought from stores 5 or 6 months ago. In fact, they can even be a refurbished unit.

The one thing I think that should be brand new, and it can make a huge difference here, is the battery itself.

It seems Charge 5 battery is super sensible, and once it gets bad there is no way back. I tend to think that even if Fitbit identifies the issue with the firmware, the damaged units will never get back to the previous state without replacing the battery.   😞

They’ll replace the unit, even if it’s out of the 12 months limited warranty period.

The issue is caused by the firmware 1.188.

My charge 5 was 14 months old at the end of dec 2023 when the firmware update 20001.188 killed it (sync issues —> HR sensor died —> battery issues —> complete death, all happened 4 to 7 days after the upgrade), and at the middle of January I’ve got a replacement (after going to twitter).

I’m keeping the replacement on the factory firmware (I’m not updating to 20001.188) and it’s been working normally for 3 weeks now.

Hi @martin75carames, I did not update my replacement unit on the factory firmware (20001.182.26) either.

@martin75carames @LuizManetti same situation as mine, got a replacement but did not update to new firmware, and still ok 6-7 days battery life. The other day I thought it was acting strange already not syncing sleep data no matter what I do to reset and clicking sync several times always saying unable to sync. I thought that it's going to conk out on me pretty soon even if I had not done the update. But I just found out from other news sources (The Verge, MobileSyrup, 9to5google, etc. and not from this discussion forum duh!) that there was a major Fitbit outage Feb. 5, and they said there was another one today Feb. 6 affecting a lot of owners. I didn't have a problem for Feb. 6 and synced ok after that, but Feb. 5 data was totally not recorded by the tracker.

Best Answer

Perhaps that's why there was no sleep data recorded over those dates...

Updated last summer,  bricked my original; Charge 5 ... had it replaced...now out of warranty, but it works now with the original firmware...I  will never update...

Fool me once Google (Fitbit) but not again.

The other update board was closed because it was too long (57 pages) ... I see the same happening again as the issue still remains !!

Don't update... please

Checked I had latest software version last night on Charge 5, which I did. Restarted device, all good. Woke up this morning and again no sleep details (REM, deep sleep etc), no HRV. Very annoying as I am tracking for health issues not fitness. What do I need to do to make this thing work, only had it for a week and very dissatisfied.
