Now my fitbit battery drains every 5 hours ! How is this going to be resolved. I don't seem to have the option to clear the cache !

So are there a lot of people who can succesfully update to the latest firmware without the device having the battery drain issue?
I bought two new ones last week and don't even dare to open them and configure them...

Is there a specific thing you can check if your device will have the battery issue on the latest firmware?

The update totally bricked my C5.  Two months outside warranty.  I was offered only a 30% discount on a new full priced unit.  That's worthless since if I wait a bit I could get something on sale for about that.  I'm now a happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy 5 watch which is superior in every way to my old C5 when it was working.  Got it as an open box at Best Buy for $160.  Fare the well, Fitbit.  Best of luck to everyone who's hanging in there with Fitbit.

I tried updating my charge 5 but when I checked for updates, it said charge 5 is up to date. Is there another way to update it?

If you are not running the latest firmware version you are a lucky person. I updated mine and my battery now drains in about 4h or 5h.   😞

Doesnt come with robot answer, I didnt changed any configuration and dont need to ajust GPS configuration.

The solution Will come or I need to purchase a device from another vendor?

I can only think that this software update works for the majority of users and although there are a lot people for whom it doesn’t work, witnessed here, they are the minority.  I haven’t updated but I still get reminded to update when I sync.  It would be nice if Fitbit said if this is the case and offered a remedy for those whose Fitbit was affected.  Silence doesn’t help anyone in the long term.  Good luck Anibal77, I will contact Which! In the UK who give the 5 a good review but maybe unaware of the continuing software issues.  BTW they also have the 4 as their number one pick for fitness trackers.

I'm beginning to feel a bit suspicious of Which? claims of independence. I contacted them about something else that was wrong with a product which (no pun intended) has been given a good review.

Don't download the update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just did and the battery lasts now less than 24 hours and before it would last 5 to 7 days. I contacted customer support and as always they asked about other apps, GPS and screen setting but it was all the same. I have everything manual and did not change anything. Now it wont last 24 hrs and they don't have a way to help. They just told me to reset it and it did not changed anything.  No update on the way and you would have wasted your money in something that wont work anymore. DONT DOWNLOAD UPDATE!!!!!!!!

Can some of those who got their replacement trackers with stock firmware 182.26 and did the the update and can confirm the battery drain issue didn't re-occur? I'm using Google pixel 7 phone and always have the latest Android version update. My replacement tracker that's not updated is still running 6-7 days battery for a good 1 month now and it's prompting to update. Really scared since my first charge 5 got the battery drain issue after the latest Fitbit firmware update.

Hello.  I received a replacement Charge 5.  I did not check what version was in it, because I wanted to update before it would let me use it.  I thought it went to the version as the one that died on me.  I just checked.  Here is the version it updated to.  57.20001.188.58.  It is holding its charge many days.  It seems to b3e working fine.  But lately it has been tracking the sleep for a few days, along with the blood oxygen level.  I am hoping that will change and start tracking it again.  Time will tell

Hi @GregtheBear ,

I also received a replacement Charge 5, and it took a couple of days for the new device to start tracking sleep and SpO2. It's working just like the previous one now.

I did not update the firmware on my new device, and I'm running version 20001.182.26.

I charged it to 100% and I started using it on 01/27 - 6pm. As of now (01/31 - 11am), 3.7 days later, it still has 63% of charge.

Could you please share the battery consumption of your new device running the latest firmware?

I had my Charge 5 for 6 months when the latest firmware bricked it. The battery would drain 30%+ overnight. Not sure exactly what "fixed" the battery issue, but my tracker was back to normal battery usage. Then came the dreaded no response screen issue and Fitbit sent me a replacement pebble, received last week.

I updated the firmware on my replacement when it arrived so that if the replacement got bricked, my device would still be under warranty. Thankfully, the device is working normally, including battery usage. So far, the battery seems to be lasting 6-7 days like my original tracker.

If your device is still under warranty, I'd recommend that you update the firmware on your replacement. If the update breaks your tracker again, Fitbit should send another replacement.

Mine started out like it sounds like yours did.  After a day or so it started tracking the Blood O2 and sleep.  Now does not track the sleep except maybe once.  As for the O2, it is doing better and is tracking that most days, but not all.

As for battery consumption, it is lasting close to a week.

I have exactly the same issue after this update. The screen is off most of the time and battery drains very quickly 😭

Best Answer

no longer tracking sleep, but is sometimes tracking O2

Elenamet, I suggest to contact support.  That is exactly how mine did, and eventually, it would charge but as soon as I took it off the charger would go dead instantly.  I contacted support and they sent me a replacement and so far it seems to be working and the battery is lasting close to a week.  Main thing now is that it is not registering sleep.

There's something else that they should have fixed with the upgrade. I set the week to start on Monday. On the testing heart rate screen part of it does honour the day but the graph at the top starts on Monday.

I shall have to look in the forum to see if it is being talked about.

I have not used fitbit for a month now. The battery drains to 0% in 3h. Restarts, turning off the watch does nothing. All the help desk suggestions did not help anything. When can we expect a solution to this problem? When is the new update that fixes the battery draining problem?

I suggest that probably the watch's processor does not enter sleep mode.
