Announcing the release of Fitbit Firmware Update 1.188.58.
This update should now be available to all customers! If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in How do I update my Fitbit device?. If you choose to post about your issue, provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist you.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

Installed it because it asked me to. I can't tell that anything has changed.

I noticed that the app icons on the watch — the icon for the app sending the notification — are a lot better.
For example: instead of just a G I'm seeing the Calendar app icon. Texts now show a different icon based on which app sent the notification (Signal, Whatsapp, Messages....)

I followed the link in your post. It has information about what's in the last update but there is nothing about this latest update.

I will pass this one and I recommend every one that not yet update wait until a official notification.
Very suspicious update ! No information from FITBIT, not even an official answer for this thread. If we don't know anything yet it's not good sign. Even the number of this update is a little weird.
My Charge 5 is working fine, not perfect, but fine. I will wait until official notes about this update.

Don't know how accurate this is, but I found this on the interwebs:
"A Fitbit Charge 5 and Luxe update that goes under firmware number 20001.188.58 fixes an issue that has cropped up with Samsung Flip & Folds."

That came in the July 2022 update - not new for Dec 2022.

Couple things I noticed today during a Weights workout:

I think it's poor communication to release an update without a publicly available changelog. People are reasonably cautious about updating because of the potential for breaking a feature or losing data.
That said, I updated my Charge 5 and it went smoothly. I fully charged it up, re-synced it and restarted it afterwards for good measure. I have no battery drain issues at all.

I wish I hadn't updated, not getting notifications no matter how many times I restart, unpair, repair, etc now on twitter text with fitbit ..

The 25 useless clock faces have been there since the previous update.
Not a decent analogue clock face with seconds and 60 tick marks displaying any stats at all (compared to the excellent one that charge 4 had).
As for the ridiculous digital displays - was someone on drugs designing them?
Also, no responses from fitbit regarding the agenda app. Is it possible that, with Google taking over fitbit, they do not like supporting something that works with IoS?

Firmware update useless. Almost a week with Android 13 installed pretty much killed the Charge 5 on Samsung Fold and Zflip such as mine. It hauled my workout and journey through the premium. I cancelled my plan. Almost a week no reimbursement and by Fitbit telling me try another phone. Lol. Does google not own Fitbit? Google king of androids I'm lost.

All I can tell is there is a brightness surge on wake now - can't figure out how to disable as now I'm worried about battery life suffering.

BEWARE* Black Screen after update
I came here to see if anyone else has the black screen after the update... I received .50 update a week or so ago(I was late getting it), then the .58 showed up yesterday morning. After the update my screen is black. I can sync with my android and see that it is still tracking fine but the screen is completely black. I have tried to reboot with the charge cable method but still have a black screen. Support asked me to change my clock screen as it seems that not all of the previously available clock faces are available after the update, so I tried that but still dealing with a black screen. I wish that I they would have let us know to change the clock face before the update. Oddly, after that support told me that they would email me with warranty options...but I haven't received anything yet.
