I see updates are generally messing things up, no stats this morning after update on IOS 15.6.1

After a few attempt I have got the stats / sync to work again. Reset C5 with button, turn bluetooth off on phone, restart phone. First time message that bluetooth was off when it was working - then it worked a bit slow but working.

Hi,

I've update to v.1.188.58 as I was expecting this to fix the battery drain issue that was caused y 1.171.50. It seems this didn't fix the battery drain problem, my Charge 5 still only lasts 6 to 7 hrs. Any news on the fix?

Just a guess: Fixing the issue not connecting to GPS once lost while in an activity. Will test today

Hi everyone, I've moved some of your posts to this thread so we can keep the forums more organized. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback and comments.

As some of you have mentioned earlier, this update brings some bug fixes but there are no other visible changes on the device. Some firmware updates are exclusively released to address user-reported issues. You can find more details in this article on how to update your device successfully.

I'll mark this post as the Best Answer, not because a specific issue has been resolved, but so other members can know why this update was released and avoid any confusion.

I noticed some of you mentioned a few issues, let me know if you were already experiencing these problems or if you started having issues right after you updated the firmware.

@goarr @robinrunner66 @puj @Microqueen Please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article. to improve battery life in general and complete a three pulse restart using the charging cable by following the steps listed here. Keep in mind some of the features that make the battery drain faster than usual are:

  • Built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 day when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Tracking SpO2 data (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

@mchili If you're still having issues with the notifications, make sure to follow all the steps listed here, that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app installed and to check all the compatibility requirements here. Keep in mind that you won’t see notifications on your Fitbit device if you turned on the Do Not disturb Icon or Sleep Mode.

If the issue persists, try disabling the notifications completely on the Fitbit app and set them up again.

I'll be around.

And as of last night... don't "charge" at all lol

Charges upto 99%, but as soon as you remove cable.. it dies and on reconnecting its at 1%.

Thank goodness got a replacement on the way...

Has anyone who successfully updated to 171.50 tried version 188.58 and not experienced any battery issues?  I was one of the lucky users who installed 171.50 and have been running it without any issues.

My warranty was up on 11/24/22, so if 188.58 causes problems, I'm out of luck getting a replacement.

@DavideFitbit thanks for the advice (these are steps that I had already taken multiple times) and although the notifications began to work again AFTER I removed the charge 5 and re-added it, plus restarted it, etc, it only lasted for an hour, now back to none!! We should not have to constantly "tweek" a device every time there is some kind of update! I don't want to have to go back to my older trackers that have unreadable screens!

  • Using an SpO2 clock face (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

Charge 5 do NOT have SpO2 clock face. Or there is? Hidden? Where?

I've had to restart my watch 5 times since the firmware update.  Ive rarely restarted prior to thst.  This morning I noticed that the watch stopped recording both my heart rate and steps, after 3 restarts in a 10 minute time frame it finally started recording both.

Also my GPS maps are way off compared to before the update, I'm certain that I don't walk in a zig zag pattern.

I’m constantly restarting it. Still not getting notifications. I don’t think a replacement would work any better. Back to wearing my old Apple Watch in the meantime which never fails me..

Performed the update yesterday. I lost my clock after it and i found no way to have a clock back on my device. When i double tap there is an error message saying try to install a new clock, but i tried with 5 different ones and cannot be installed due to error. ---now solved. I let the fitbit app open for 30minutes and let complete all the pending processes for synching and updating the Charge 5. At the end the clock was correctly installed.

Charge 5 will not sync now. Won't even pair back to my phone. I've tried everything suggested! Last sync was yesterday at 2:34 am.

would suggest you try reset the device using the button on the usb part of the charging cable, you should press the button 3 times one second each. Good luck.
