Announcing the release of Fitbit Firmware Update 1.188.58.
This update should now be available to all customers! If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in How do I update my Fitbit device?. If you choose to post about your issue, provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist you.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Mine just started doing this overnight. Battery is draining almost instantly, like not holding charge at all

Indeed and I had no time to deal with customer support yet for thenl past 2 weeks hoping that a fix would come soon. So my family have two dead Fitbit Charge 5. Set up my third one for myself with an older device with older firmware. I don't even dare to update the firmware seeing how after so long people are still replying to this thread talking about drained batteries and such. Disappointing. Feels like such a lemon of a product.

This version broke my Charge 5!
In the time I spent with the Online Support troubleshooting what happened after my update 2 days ago, battery went from 95% down to 78%. Display wasn't working properly, heart rate not working, cannot swipe properly, no response to touch ...etc.

Ever since the update my Fitbit won't sync correctly. I've done all of the steps suggested in troubleshooting. I've restarted it and uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

I have t applied updates yet, but my charge 5 started draining fast the minute they pushed the banner onto my app to tell me the firmware update was available. Deffo some time-bounded control from the Fitbit side to throttle the devices in the same way apple do to phones to “protect” the device (aka force you to upgrade because it becomes useless)

I charge my device 100% and the battery drains in just 1 hour. This malfunction started after firmware update 1.188.58 this week.- I started wearing charge 5 eight months ago, too early for battery failure

Update - I contacted support and refused to end the support until they confirmed the battery was faulty and now have a replacement on the way.

How long have you had the Charge 5?

Funnily enough 12 months today

I've done all the suggestions for Android (soft reboot, hard reboot, and uninstall and reinstalled app, checked all permissions), but my Charge 5 cannot sync with my Galaxy S22 since this update.

My new device (replacement after it was killed by update) does not hold its charge as long as the previous.

Received a new FBC5 today and set it up as instructed.
Had to instal the new OS update to get the SpO2 feature to work.
Update went without incident...so far so good.
Im on Ver. 57.20001.188.58

I'm having the same issue. Have you seen any fix for this anywhere?

I have seen nothing other than the previous fix that didn't address the issue. I am wondering if this may be a persistent issue with Samsung phones since Fitbit is now owned by Google, a rival of Samsung. Any comments on that Fitbit help desk?

Since this new update, my Charge 5 has completely screwed up. Battery is draining fast and only lasts a few days but would last a week before the update. Also, my screen went blank and I tried all of the troubleshooting to get it to work again but nothing worked. Now it has suddenly come back to life again. Fitbit really need to sort these issues out, as every update seems to add more problems than they fix!

Mine also now only lasts 4 days compared to 7 ...

My Charge 5 now syncs as fast as my Charge 4 did! Big fix.

UPDATE: Chatted with customer service and repeated all the basic troubleshooting steps for at least the 3rd time and now it works with my S22!
