I have the same problems as described by you.

My Charge 5 is on 194.91. Until Thursday, it used to last multiple consecutive days without a charge, with always-on display.
Now, I charge it to 100%, put it on, and it's dead within an hour.

Well mine is not even on the latest firmware and the battery drain started happening just coincidence i might add just after warranty expired. But I do kind of understand that battery degradation happens and mine is showing that (everytime you plug into charger it shows a different % of charge 8%, %14, %26 !!).
Well as am out of warranty suppose I might as well try changing the battery (am guessing that one the battery is disconnected and the hardware fully discharges the firmware will reset). And thus when charging again will read the correct % from battery.
Worth a go ? Has anyone replaced the battery successfully?

I have a working Charge 5 that didn't go through any of these updates and is on 57. blah blah. Should I try to update it? Google will try to break it anyway.

I should have known better not to update.
I didn't update the thing since I bought it and never had an issue. But a week after a firmware update, the display turned black. It is still working and syncs- just without the display.
Is there a way to roll back to a previous installed firmware?

Is there anyway to force the firmware update or can it be side loaded from the app ? Can the latest firmware be pushed out to my charge ? (Am not on the latest firmware)

I don't know the thing is that there's no way for me to even update to the new one bc no update banner appears. I contacted Fitbit support and they said it's policy that you can't get 50% off a new Fitbit device. They told me I have to update from 4.9 to 4.10 on the app.

Add me to the long list of ex-Fitbit users. My charge five buzzed wildly a few minutes when I plugged it in around December 5, I can only assume it was being updated, then it was dead. It has remained dead, nothing I did could revive it.
I have decided to scrap the device, even though it was barely a year old, and even though I have bought 4-5 Fitbit products since 2015. It's clear to me that my Fitbit chapter has come to an end. My new Garmin is doing well.

Welcome back to the community, @CHCHAN.
Thanks for letting me know about the exercises you'd like to be in the exercise app using your Charge 5.
My best recommendation would be for you to post this idea in the Product Feedback board in the community, since this section is regularly monitored by the team of developers. Make sure to post your idea including as many details as possible.

Welcome, @RJayneC, to the community.
Thanks for letting me know about this situation with your Charge 5 after the update.
Can you let me know if your Charge 5 vibrates when you connect it to the charger? Also, does the green lights in the back of it are on?
This will help me further investigate on this, I recommend you to do the following too:
- In the Fitbit app, touch your profile picture, touch your Fitbit device and click 'Sync Now'. This will help you synchronize it.
- Restart your device by following the steps here.
- After this, change the clock face of your Charge 5. In the Fitbit app, you can access the image of your profile and the image of your Fitbit device, touch the gallery and the screen and click on the clock face, preferably one of Fitbit and install.

crisvillafitbit this is the second time that i noticed you posting "my best recommendation would be for you to post this idea in the product feedback board in the community, since this section is regularly monitored by the team of developers. make sure to post your idea including as many details as possible."So my question is: Why are is the team of developers not monitoring this section?

No really sure mine updated or not but I noticed today around 3:30 this afternoon my Fitbit started malfunctioning. It won't turn on the face when I tap on it, it occasionally flashes the Fitbit symbol, and when it does turn on it is not tracking my steps accurately. This is my second Fitbit, my first one also malfunctioned after an update. I use my Fitbit all the time and this is getting frustrating. I am not sure if I want to get another one if they are just going to keep malfunctioning after every update.

If it's still syncing to your phone, you can check the firmware version.
Tap the device icon in the upper left (the one that shows device charge %), then tap the "Charge 5" under Devices.
If Firmware Version ends in 194.91 it's updated to the latest version.
Mine's been running fine on 194.91, though from this thread it's clear that many people have run into problems with it. I saw one glitch on HR measurement, and one on logging sleep, IIRC, in the first day or two, working well since then. Battery use is the same as before the upgrade (recharge needed once per week - I have most optional items like SPO2, and most Notifications, turned off).

Not syncing anymore and I tried restarting it, changing the clock face, ... I have pretty well given up on it.
