Charge 5 GPS - so unreliable as to be almost useless

Using the Charge 5 'on device' GPS for runs.  GPS consistency and accuracy is terrible.  No GPS lock for a lot of my usual 3.5 mille route, and sometimes it just gives up completely part-way through the run and doesn't even try to reconnect.

 

Before I get the stock bot response from 'DavideFitbit' I followed all the standard guidance.  I'm running outdoors with a clear view of the sky throughout.

 

From the number of complaints I've read on these forums, unless you live in a country with zero cloud cover for most the year this device really isn't fit for purpose.  The GPS unit in these devices just isn't good enough.
