An online reviewer shows that Charge 5 cannot do both at the same time, possibly because the GPS antenna is partislly on the underside. He explained that the Charge 5 needs to be snugly tight against the skin to accurately detect heartrate, at which point GPS reception is blocked.
Please post your findings if you have had a chance to check this too.

Desfit also did a review for the charge 5 and he had no problem with HR and GPS use on his initial tests, I have the charge 5 on pre order so will test it out once arrived.

Thanks! I just watched his review and it's raised doubts further. He says GPS isn't great, and maybe it'll be fixed in a future update. He didn't seem to mention specifically heart and GPS together.
Good info, thanks!

I was seriously contemplating to get the Charge 5, after reading this review, it is almost a non-starter.
Having to choose between GPS or HR for a fitness tracker is a setback. Both GPS and HR are needed to be operable and accurate.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks. It has some serious problems with power charging so I'm returning it However, HPS abd heartrate worked ok together for me. GPS is pretty inaccurate, rven with clear skies and no buildings. But works ok for a low end device (Charge 5).

I tested the built in GPS as well and it is quite inaccurate. The Charge 4 was doing a better job. If you look at the chart it looks like I was drunk (and I was not🙂). I was on and of the pavement and even walking through water😳. Another thing that is really annoying is that it has added 1KM to a 6KM route. The charge 4 and a polar device always measured that route as 6 KMS. When I use the connected GPS it also states around 6 KMS. So I think it is the Charge 5 that is off. Hope this can be fixed with a firmware update.
