This Charge 5 is a disappointment.  Doesn’t record heartbeat right at all.  My last try before changing products.  My original Fitbit years ago was really reliable.

charge doesn’t record bike heartbeat, spin at HOTWORX, etc.  readiness score a mystery.  Stops tracking if I charge the Fitbit.

overall very erratic.

Hello, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Roy1522.

Thank you for sharing this information about the inconvenience you've been experiencing with your Charge 5.

Before considering other options, I recommend that you try restarting the device using the three pulse restart method mentioned here below, instead of the restart option found on the Charge 5 itself:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end of the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

In addition, please follow the instructions in this article to improve the accuracy of heart rate information and check the information mentioned here about other factors that could affect your heart rate reading, this has been useful to other users who have experienced something similar.

Regarding the problem with the readiness score, if you're not getting heart rate information, you won't receive readiness score information. In the meantime, please make sure of the following:

  • You must be a Fitbit Premium member using a compatible device. For a list of compatible devices, see Who can see a daily readiness score in the Fitbit app?
  • To receive your first daily readiness score, you must wear your Fitbit device 14 hours per day for at least 4 days and nights. To continue receiving a score, wear your device 4+ nights per week.
  • If you already received your first score, make sure you wear your device for at least 1 full day (during the day and to sleep at night), then check your score after you wake up in the morning. To see a daily readiness score, you must wear your Fitbit device for at least 14 hours.
  • Make sure the back of your device is in contact with your skin. The band should be snug but not constricting.
  • Most metrics require at least 3 hours of quality sleep. If you move a lot during your sleep or the sleep session is too short, you might not get a reading.

Thank you for sharing all your feedback and comments about this.

I’ve returned it.  I’ve had three prior fitbits.  None have perfect heart rate measurements.  I’ve done all the tricks.  None worked.  Also, time to improve it shouldn’t be this hard.

I’m using my aria. Until I leave fitbit for something else.  I loved my first one 5-6 years ago.  Since it died I’ve struggled to find a good one.

Also, the bands aren’t great.

Is the readiness score a premium feature?

(I thought it was equivalent to my garmins "body battery.")

@vbenar Thanks for your inquiry about the Readiness Score.

As you mentioned earlier, the Readiness Score is indeed a Premium feature. You can find all the details about this feature and how to use it in this article
