My charge 5 will not allow the update that the app says is available.

Fitbit has a troubleshooting guide for update problems at https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2047.htm

Try resetting Fitbit app and try removing Fitbit off app and re add it to Fitbit app if that doesn’t work try resetting Fitbit watch ok let me know if that works ok
