Charge 5 Won’t hold Charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge 5 stopped holding a charge yesterday. I charged it to 100% 3 times yesterday and now each time it went dead in about an hour. Charged it again to 100% and then it was dead by morning. I see in the forum this is a common issue but haven’t seen any fix. I’ve had this Fitbit since Nov 22 and it worked great up until yesterday.

I agree entirely. Google is an evil company (by their own admission), and they seem to be going out of their way to make everything they touch worse. I’ve had a Fitbit for the bulk of the last decade, wearing it more or less constantly, but I’m in the market for a new brand

I contacted fitbit support. They said they can do nothing to fix it.

Your response is the reason why I haven't bothered contacting fitbit support. I figured it would be a waste of time.

I have as well. I owned a Charge 4 for almost 3 years before I broke one of wrist band connectors and had no choice but to get a Charge 5. Only place I could obtain another Charge 4 was on the secondary market, and I wasn't comfortable with that option.

I talked to customer service 3 times and have them my case number so they knew I kept coming back and exhausting their advice. I've only had this fitbit 7 months so I'm being sent a new one for free that should arrive today.

But that's not the answer! There are at least 200 other folks on this
community help page who have the same issue. All with Charge 5 devices
which stopped holding charge around the time that a software update was
installed. You are lucky that your device was still in warranty. Most
aren't and Fitbit/Google are ignoring the issue.
I hope that the new Fitbit gets you sorted and congratulations on your
perseverance.

Hey thanks for this tip I’ve been playing with it like you mentioned charging it and recharging it throughout the day for the better part of a week I even cleaned it with a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol and voila out of the blue today it seems to be working again and holding the charge.  It’s been about 6 hours since the last full charge and it’s showing 90%!
HR lights still not working though.
I hate that this is what we’ve been reduced to doing to get Fitbit’s product to work that I spent good money on just 2 years ago, but I’ll take it at this point.  I just can’t see myself shelling out money for another one.  It’s ridiculous!  But I’m happy for now.

I couldn’t agree with you more bas_rodriguez.  I’ll be trying Garmin in the future.  For now mine just miraculously started up again today. 🤞🏼 Let’s see how long it lasts this time.

That is what exactly I feel. I have used Fitbit since 2011 and after Google acquired Fitbit, they turned it into a soulless company that disregards the very premise of keeping user’s fit.
