Charge 5 and Redmi 5 plus notifications not running well.

Hi,

I have a Charge 5 and a Redmi 5 plus.

Notifications works well until I close the App or restart the smartphone, then they stop working.

Each time I have to disable and re-enable notifications to make them work.

How can I solve?

Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Ivobi

Thank you for sharing all these details about the inconvenience you've been having with your Charge 5 and for confirming that you already tried a few troubleshooting steps.

Hi,

It seems that the problem is Android 8. Unfortunately for my smartphone there have been no updates to newer Android versions.
I have not been given any other solutions. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix it that would be great!

Thanks.

@Ivobi Thank you for your reply.

As you mentioned earlier, one of the requirements to sync and receive notifications is to have Android 10 or higher installed on your phone. You can find the compatibility requirements here as well.

There are some general recommendations  listed here to resolve problems with notifications, but it would still be necessary to update the Android version to have the best performance possible.

Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback about this as well.

I have the latest Android version and the updated firmware on my Charge 5 and I get the ''service not running". Restarting the phone dose not work. The only option that works consistently is clear data (not cache).I didn't have this problem on my charge 2. Charge 2 died hence the upgrade.

One option that seems to work (not  commented on as much as the other options) is to log out  of the app (and log back in!). Restarting the phone doesn't log me out.

I'm keeping an eye on this to see if it actually helps or was just a coincident.

P.S.

tried a few combinations. Restarting the phone causes me to get the "service not running". However, on my system, logging out and back in clears the issue.

Hi, thank you for confirming that you've been having the same problem with your Charge 5, @Rapster.

Before taking any other options into consideration, please make sure that you've tried the steps listed in this article, as they have been helpful for other users experiencing something similar, and you can also try to disabling the notifications completely and setting them up again.

In addition, please check that the Do Not Disturb Mode and the Sleep Mode options are not activated, as they prevent the watch from vibrating and receiving notifications.

If you're still having the same problem, other users have also found the steps below helpful:

  1. On your phone, open the Settings app then Apps and notifications then Apps.
  2. Tap Fitbit then Battery.
  3. Turn off the Power-intensive prompt option.
  4. Tap Launch.
  5. Turn off the Manage automatically option, and turn on the Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background options.
  6. Tap OK.

You can find other useful tips for using the Fitbit app on Android devices here.

Sorry but steps 3 to 6 don't make any sense on my phone.

  1. On your phone, open the Settings app then Apps and notifications then Apps. (apps and notifications are separate options)
  2. Tap Fitbit then Battery. (apps>Fitbit>battery>)
  3. Turn off the Power-intensive prompt option.(>options: unrestricted/optimised/restricted)
  4. Tap Launch. (no  idea where this option is)
  5. Turn off the Manage automatically option, and turn on the Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background options. (no idea where these are)
  6. Tap OK. (??)

FYI my phone is a Samsung Galaxy A53 Android 12.

🙂
