Charge 5 battery and screen issues

Hi.

My fitbit suddenly died while I was out walking. When I got home I plugged it into the charger, and after a few hours it started up again. At this point the screen was grey and it went from 57% to 3% in about two minutes. I plugged it back in the charger and it quickly went up to 73%. It then stopped working again, and tried restarting it. The screen came back on, but faded away quickly. By evening it seemed to work normally again, but the battery was draining fast. I charged it again, and this time everything seemed normal. But then the touchscreen wasn’t working. I restarted again, and it worked. Next morning half the battery was drained, and the touchscreen again wasn’t working. After this, the same problem happens every few hours; battery drain and touchscreen not working.

Hi there, @Sandypepp. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that the battery on your Charge 5 is still draining and the screen is still unresponsive. I will do my best to help you with this!

To tackle both issues, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Charge 5. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

With the above being said, please sync your Charge 5 and then, please swipe down from the clock screen to find the Settings app, on your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > Device Info > Clear User Data.

Once the above has been done, please proceed to set up your Charge 5. Keep an eye on your Fitbit device's behavior to see how it goes the next couple of days.

Hi!

I did a factory reset, and the fitbit died completely. I returned it for service, and they comfirmed that it’s dead. I was offered a replacement product or the money back, as the fitbit is only a year old. Was then informed that i couldn’t get a replacement without paying 1600kr. I’m thinking this was my last fitbit. Wouldn’t pay that much for a **ahem**ty product.

Mine did the same. Seems my fitbits are lasting 2 yrs top. Time to switch to Apple Watch or some other device that last longer.
