Updated the firmware on my Charge 5 and immediately the battery, which had no issues previously, started draining within 24 hours. Three days later it is now completely dead and won't charge. Fitbit is taking zero responsibility for this even though it is their update that caused the issue. I'm assuming other people are experiencing this as well? I find it completely unacceptable...

@Chuck.OBXI had thought the same way for a while, but in this case, it seems the saying "buy once, cry once" is actually applicable. If you look around the Charge 5 forum here, you'll note that nearly nobody is seeing any meaningful resolution even while the mods just offer empty platitudes or outright delete threads/posts. I bit the bullet and got a Garmin for what, at least during a sale, was only a bit more than a Charge 5 at regular retail. So far I've found it is better in nearly every way, offering a lot more data, including so much that Fitbit locks behind a subscription paywall. It also has vastly better battery life compared to the Charge 5 even when it is not dying immediately after taking it off the charger like so many are seeing here. There are also those cheaper brands too, but I have no familiarity with those.

Add me to the club! My Charge5 hadn't given me any problems in 15 months. Recently, it was getting wonky, and today, Red x on the display, followed by the green led on the back of the watch shining full force, none of the usual strobing. I ran through all the troubleshooting. Nothing. Got an offer of 50% off a new device. Lol, no. Not paying another dime for a product that gets bricked (maybe on purpose) in under 2 years. I cancelled Fitbit premium and the renewal after the free year of Balance, so if they stood by their product, they stood to gain just under $200 annually from me. Short sighted.

Same issue… firmware update and now battery drains within a day. Thought it might be the battery itself as I’ve had my Charge 5 for a number of years, so I replaced the battery. No change. Battery discharges within hours.
I’ve been a loyal advocate of Fitbit for 10 years. Based on this experience, I would never 👎 recommend them, ever again.

Me too, Customer for many many years, charge 5 drains from 100% to 0 within 4 hours. Need a tracker but fitbit has me at my limits right now!!

Google/Fitbit disaster
Hello,
I think that the acquisition of Fitbit by Google is an unmitigated disaster for Fitbit users.
As can be read in this forum, there are a lot of problems with Fitbits. 😞 We users report problems, ask questions and hope for solutions. It is now clear that the Charge 5 is a bad product.
There are a number of well-intentioned users in the forum (moderators...) who help users as best they can to get things resolved. Well intentioned, but...sigh
But the real solutions must come from Fitbit. But Fitbit is no more. It has become Google. And Google is so big that it allows itself to not respond to the complaints of Fitbit users and push for real solutions and completely ignore them.😡
The Fitbit forum moderators are also unable to get problems really solved by Google.
Ultimately, I think Google wants everyone to buy a Google Pixel Watch. If they want to promote it, they could also exchange all the Fitbits for the Google Pixel Watch, which would at least gain a large group of users.
If car companies like Tesla, General Motors, Volkswagen, etc., would build and maintain cars this way, they would have been bankrupt a long time ago.
Google lives off our data and that is all they care about.
(I sympathize with all the moderators, but they are also victims)
This message will undoubtedly be deleted.

I agree. My Fitbit suddenly started draining within 3 to 4 hours. I am tired of buying a new watch every year. I will be moving on after being a loyal customer for a decade!
