I have had the new Charge 5 for 2 days. The battery discharges within a day. GPS is off, the phone is not set to always on. In looking over the troubleshooting instructions from Fitbit, it seems that you essentially have to disable all of the features that were selling points of this device in order to get decent battery life. Even my ancient Charge 3 got 6 days on one charge! Has anyone with this battery problem found a solution other than disabling everything?

My Charge 5 lost all battery power 3 days ago. Fully charged it before I went to bed & it went down to 0 at 2:15 am. I know this because that is when all sleep data ended. Charged it to 100% again & it lost all battery power within 3 hours. Called support & got all the same advice everyone else has gotten & then after being put on hold, was told they are aware of the problem & that there is a fix rolling out but that it’s not in my area yet. This is the exact same problem I had with my first Fitbit that they NEVER fixed. I swore I would never get another one, but my health insurance had this as a benefit, so here I am again in the same boat. If they can’t fix this I will truly be done with Fitbit & find a better product.

I did an update Saturday and it worked for about 4 hours. Now it has been dead again for 4 days.

Same here. It seems many are experiencing issues recently. Mine loses power within hours now and I have implemented ever tip they recommend. I would really like to know if this was caused by a recent firmware change or what and if the company is working on a fix. I have not seen any recent update on this thread from Fitbit yet there has been a lot of activity. Very frustrating and disappointing. Fitbit used to be one of the best…

It appears Fitbit support is aware of the problem and will be offering a
firmware update soon. They gave no eta, but at least they acknowledge the
issue.--

When I contacted Fitbit support they told me a firmware update is in the making. Sadly knowing Google and their updates it could take forever for this issue to be remedied. The Fitbit charge 5 is supposed to be a quality item and cost $175 when I bought it 9 months ago. It's rather expensive for an item that seems to be in beta. If this isn't resolved soon, I'll end up buying a no name brand fitness tracker which will be a lot less costly. It really saddens me to see how Google products are going downhill

I called about my Charge 5 two days ago & after explaining that I did all the things recommended, it still wouldn’t hold a charge for more than 3 hours. After being put on hold several times, I was told a “fix” would be out shortly. I got my Charge in March 2022 & had no battery issues until the day before I called. Today an update appeared in my Fitbit app. & I installed it, rebooted everything & fully charged the unit. Two hours later the battery is down in the 40’s percentile. The “fix” didn’t work.

I am going to call them again & see if they will replace it. An update came through today, but still drains within 3 hours, plus it’s hot when I take it of the charger.
Apple battery life is about 18 hours. I wouldn’t want to pay that much for something I’d have to charge every day.

Well right now my Fitbit is less than 3 hours with intermittent connectivity and heart rate monitoring so much worse than charging every 18 hrs which I already do with my phone and tablet.

Same here. Mine has never held a charge for more than 3 days even though it’s supposed to work for 7-10days according to product info. I tried chat and they offered nothing except try troubleshooting even though I told them I’ve tried everything posted here. Now it won’t hold a charge for even 24 hours and it won’t track heart rate at all. I have all features turned off and have restarted multiple times. I tried to call support and after a 15 min wait when I finally got an agent who couldn’t help me I asked for a supervisor and the agent HUNG UP ON ME. Really great customer service experience. I’m beyond frustrated and so angry that I spent the money to buy this.

Thanks. This is useless. There are posts on this site going back nearly a year that say the same thing. We are aware and working on a fix. Seriously?!?! Maybe stop selling a defective product and REFUND OUR MONEY so we can go buy a product that works.

Same with me. I got mine when it was first release on pre-order. Got the dreaded black screen after dying several times. It was replaced by Fitbit. The new replacement still keep dying after turning off almost the settings which makes the device attractive for buying in the first place. Very disappointed in this Charge 5. I just bought the Fitbit inspire as I’m just about had it.

Sadly I have no confidence that a firmware update will be the answer to all the issues.
I believe that a lot people on this thread won't be looking at Fitbit as a option in future after the companies complete indifference to complaints.
It should have been such a great device.

Totally agree! It’s absolutely appalling and not a word about any compensation. They should be recalled and money given back!

Yes but it’s been going on for months!

My Fitbit Charge 5 will not hold more than a few hours charge. It seemed to happen right after the recent update with all the new features. Can't Google roll back the software to the more stable version???
I have turned off all the extra Fitbit APPs by uninstalling them. Turned off all notifications. Using the phones GPS and etc... Today I've already charged the Fitbit for the 3rd time. Is it possible the battery was killed by the update with the new features? If so I'd like my money back or a replacement. It is really poor business to have consumers wait for months to have the device fixed. Google claims to sell quality for a hefty price but doesn't seem to stand behind their products.

Just upgraded to Charge 5 on Prime Day. I love the description. Function is awful. Won’t sinq, won’t record all steps or zone minutes . Battery needs an hour to charge daily. Update the firmware or something, please!
