Charge 5 battery dying within minutes after full charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had this charge 5 for about a year and 3 months and its never had any issues.Yesterday, suddenly my fitbit kept dying even though I was fully charging it multiple times. Up until then, the battery lasted around 5 days. Now it lasts maybe 15 minutes on a full charge. I've tried restarting it multiple times and it hasn't helped. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is my fitbit dead for good? Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. Did you find out what's happening?

Update, I chatted with customer care and it was under warranty. They are sending me a new one.

Yup, same here too. Happened around the same time too. Now my screen has gone blank, but I know it’s still on because it vibrates with my alarms  and I can swipe to dismiss. FitBit Google won’t replace out of warranty. But I doubt this is a hardware issue if so many are experiencing it. I bought my 5 after my 4 gave me issues with lines across the screen. Love my Fitbit, incredibly disappointed with Google here.

So yesterday I charged my 5 in the am, felt like it was a bit early but no biggie. Fully charged, exercised, water lock and showered. Not even an hour later,it was unresponsive. Phone still shows it charged.

plugged it in and it flashed 1% but has remained unresponsive since. A restart has not been successful.

Anyone else experiencing more than not holding a charge?

My charge 4 did the same thing yesterday,. And about a week ago for like 2-4 days it wouldn’t hold a charge for more than a couple hours. Then randomly it did for its normal 5 days, when I charged it yesterday it seemed fine but the died within 2 hrs.

I charged my Charge 5, too, but it waited a half day to die.  No screen at all, nor do I get notifications. Is it something sinister like daylight savings time?!! Are Google and Apple not getting along?  Hoping someone at Google sees the problem and fixes it.

Did it start showing you the blue dotted logo?? Mine is doing the same!

Same exact issue.  2 hrs and battery is dead.  Mine is same age. 15 months.  Chatted with help desk   2 times and was told I'd get an email.  I did but without any help.  Sorry but out  of warranty!  This is ridiculous that there are so many with this same issue.

Same....I never had.problems with the battery of the Charge 5 owne

I am having a very similar issue. I can charge my Fitbit charge 5 to 100% and in a couple of hours it’s down to zero. I may have to go back into the Apple ecosystem.

I called Fitbit this morning armed with all of the things I had tried to resolve it. I am out of warranty but they agreed to send me a new one without me having to ask.  I had read the forum and tried lots of different things - maybe it made them willing to work with me if that helps anyone else? I am also a premium member.

Mine too, happened without warning. Purchased in Dec or Jan just over a year ago. Seems very odd that we are all crashing on the same day!

Mine was just purchased a few months ago and has never worked right.  I have contacted support multiple times and restarted dozens of times and nothing is working except the total steps.  Nobody wants to help.  I have had several fitbits but never had this kind of trouble and they don't want to make it good by replacing it.  I have to charge daily, and I don't get any info for anything but total.

Yup. The Charge 5 seems to be a faulty product across the board! Bought my first one in Dec 2021. Worked great until Aug 2022 when the screen went glitchy and nothing worked to fix it. Got a replacement under the warranty, and now 6.5 months later, the battery stopped holding a charge out of nowhere. It’s losing about 3.75% an hour vs losing that much in 6-8 hours normally. Contacted Support and got an email saying its out of warranty so they can only offer me a discount on a new device. I’m livid! I’ve never owned anything I paid $150+ for that stopped working in less than a year, let alone twice in a row! I had an Inspire 2 right before this for over a year and had zero issues. I can’t believe Fitbit is doing nothing about this - they really should stop selling it until they work out the issues!

Nope. I contacted fitbit support and all they told me was I'm having "abnormal battery drain". All they did was tell me I'm out of warranty and gave me a small discount code to get a new one as if I want to give them any money for a new fitbit that will break in a year

I contacted fitbit support and all they told me was I'm having "abnormal battery drain" as if I didn't know that. Their solution was, I'm out of warranty and gave me a small discount code to get a new one as if I want to give them any money for a new fitbit that will break in a year. You got lucky I guess

Mine too - bought my first last September 22. Went completely dead end of October 22. Replaced under warranty. Last 48 hours charging to 99% but as soon as I unplug the charging cable it drops to 1%. Did all the suggested tests then called in. Being replaced under 2 year warranty.
appreciated the no fuss replacement but why is this happening to so so many?
