I cannot charge my device because it turns off and resets to zero battery every time I try to charge it. It’s become unusable as a result.

Thank you for sharing that you're having the same inconvenience with the Charge 5.
There are some general recommendations to improve battery life, but since the device is losing battery when connecting to the charger, I would recommend to try a three pulse restart method instead.
