I recently (maybe 3 weeks ago) bought a Charge 5, having used a Charge 4 for several years. What a disappointment! The battery life is less than 24 hours, and when I charge it, it wipes out the steps already taken for the day. In today’s case, I have gone from 6,000 steps to zero.
I have tried using it in sleep mode all the time, it makes no difference. I get no alerts, no messages, and it is set on GOS dynamic. So literally it is like having a watch that runs out of battery every 18 hours, and that I have to tap to get the time. What’s the point? I am so frustrated, and beginning to wonder if I should dig out my old charge 4, with its faded screen. Please tell me this situation will be fixed soon …

I just reluctantly switched back to the Charge 4. I loved everything else about the 5 but too much work to keep it charged. Tried every trick posted to no avail. Deeply disappointed.

When you first got your charge 5 did you kill the battery to 0% and charge for 24 hrs after that?
I did that twice with mine and found it solved the battery losing charge issue. It seems like the charge 5 battery is very much like the 1990's phone batteries. Only works properly if you kill it the first two times and charge for 24 hours after.

@CRO55 @have you tried giving your Charge 5 a restart? Instructions here . A restart can solve many problems, including shutting down any background activities that may be causing unusual battery discharge. (sometimes the restart needs to be repeated a couple of times before it works).
A restart is a much better option than letting the battery to die completely - that will restart your device, of course, but is not ideal for the battery.
I hope this helps. Welcome to the forums!

Yes, would restart it every morning. It worked for the first couple of days and went right back to fast drain. Disabled Spo2, gps to phone, manual display, etc. I just think with the technology of today you shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops to keep device going. It seems the tricks work for some and not others. 🙂

Didn't try this but may when I decide to give the device another go....it's in a time out for now until I have time to deal with it 😂

Try setting the GPS to Phone, and under Display Settings set Screen Wake to Manual.

On the tracker, go into Settings|GPS, tap GPS to scroll though the 3 options, stop when you get to Phone.
