Dear community, I am starting this thread to gain insight/feedback and sime understanding about what is happening with a lot of disappointing fitbit charge 5 users.my charge 5 was working fine till early of this week with an average charging interval every 7 days/ 3 days when using gps while biking. I have only used it for almost 15 months. Suddenly the screen turned black unresponsive even after full charge and hard rest. When connecting it to the laptop the following day the screen turned on and start to charge. Afterwards, i suffered from the same common frustration of a lot of others in the fitbit community (which i am definite it is shrinking due to disappointment and frustration especially after contacting the customer anti-service) of a sudden fast battery draining. Couple of thoughts to share with you: - is it common that the battery is Suddenly malfunction without a deteriorating period( i.e., gradual decreasing non-charging periods)?
-most of the tjis model malfunction starts a little bit after the last firmware update which is beyond the warranty period and after the release of the non-successful charge 6 model. I am not a conspiracy person but need to understand what is happening? That said, i am pretty sad about the general failure of the one day successful brand and I am definitely migrating from the fitbit community to another brand especially after the disappointment customer anti-service. Thanks a lot.

Hi there, @Mmkss. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Charge 5. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration.
Please bear in mind that as all rechargeable batteries age, they deteriorate to some extent and an older device will need to be charged more often than a new one. The best way of minimizing this effect is to avoid deep discharges of the battery. To maximize the overall life of your Fitbit device's battery, ideally keep it between 20-80%. Many people find that a daily battery boost works best ( e.g. giving it a 15 minutes charge while you are showering in the morning). For more tips and recommendations, please see Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?
Regarding your inquiry, note that our products are indeed designed and made to last (this goes for each product component) however, there is not an infallible way to ensure that no issues will be present in the long run. Because of this, our Warranty Policy is set into providing as much coverage as we can. For more information about our warranty, see fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty
Even though I truly appreciate that you've taken the time to come here and share your experience, please note for this kind of inquiries/cases/process, there's no so much we here in the forums can do for you as this is something that our Support Team handles based on our policies. Nevertheless, please feel free to reach out to them again if you need further assistance or clarification regarding the outcome of your case. Thanks in advance!

Dear Maria,
Thank you for your reply.
Regarding the deterioration aspect, this was exactly why i started this thread. As i mentioned, my battery and charge lasting were fine uptill the incident that took place early this week. I only needed to charge the battery every 7 days with regular use and in case i am using the GPS during my bike ride i needed tocharge it every 3-4 days. Suddenly one day, the battery can't hold charge and drain very quickly. So no gradual deterioration in the battery capacity to hold charge reflected in a shorter period between successive charging; which is totally normal by the way; was observed at all. In addition, you can observe the rapidly picking number of threads statinv the exact same problem in the last period in this forum as well as other platforms and the main observation that this took place after the new update.
As for your second point regarding the durability of fitbit and I am you quoting exactly what you mentioned :{"that our products are indeed designed and made to last (this goes for each product component) however, there is not an infallible way to ensure that no issues will be present in the long run"} i don't believe that a device/product goes totally malfuntion and useless in a period below 15 months is built to last by any means.
Unfortunately the response of the technical "support" team is completely disappointing needless to say null.
