Charge 5 being replaced under warranty, what happens to the original device?

I have a Charge 5 and the clasps have broken off. Fitbit is replacing my device as I’m still under warranty, but I was wondering what will happen to the original? Will they lock it? If not, I was thinking I could buy one of those protective bands off Amazon and let my son use the broken one.

Hello & welcome @remo053

If Fitbit support didn't request that you send back the original, then you can keep the Charge 5 with broken clasps. What you decide to do with it is up to you.

If they did request the original back as part of the warranty replacement, then it's best to do a factory reset/clear user data before returning it. Click here for instructions on: how to erase user data
