Charge 5 black screen, not synching, not resetting

As of last night my charge 5 is dead. It turned off with 27% battery, I connected it to the charger and it vibrated like normal but the Fitbit logo was flashing. It then turned off and artifacts of a firmware update progress bar could be seen, then it flashed again and the screen went black again. I removed it from the charger and reconnected it, it vibrated and the firmware progress bar artifact showed for a second then back to black. It then was only vibrating at the touch of the button on the charger. I tried the 3 press restart and it stopped vibrating at all after that. Now it's 100% unresponsive.

This device is in warranty. What's going on with my device? Send it in?

Update: the device is now synching with the app and the heart rate light is coming on. The screen is still black.

The app shows a firmware version of ...188.58.

I powered up my charge 2 and synched it, about an hour later the charge 5 showed that is synched so I picked it up to investigate and the green HR monitor light turned on.

It still won't reboot. It vibrates when connected to the charger but doesn't respond to the power cable button presses. Tried several different ac USB plugs as well. No dice. Still black screen.

Also the app doesn't see it. It's just a paper weight right now.

Exact same thing happened to me too, yesterday. This is ridiculous.

Nothing but a black screen. Green light turns on when I touch it. Never reboots, just flashes a blue fitbit logo when do the 3 press button thing (i always make sure to hold it for a sec...then like 5 secs later the fitbit logo flashes).

Doesn't vibrate anymore when I put it on the charger either, or when the fitbit logo flashes.

Sorry to see you're having issues with your Charge 5. 

One other troubleshooting step to try is changing the clock face. Sometimes, doing this will get the device "unstuck" and the screen back to working. Click here for instructions on: How to change Charge 5 clock face 

From what I've read, it may take several tries at changing the clock face & restarting in order for this to work. If it's successful, you can change back to the clock face you prefer.

Happened to me as well. Fitbit's answer is to just give you a 35% coupon.  Very frustrating.
