Charge 5 brand new doesn’t hold charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My brand new Charge 5 doesn’t hold a charge. I have all notifications turned off, and only sync it a few times each day. I take off the watch at night, and when I get up in the morning the screen is still on. Thinking of returning if it can’t hold a charge for 2 days, or turn off while not even using features. My charge4 could hold a charge for 4-5 days with constant syncing and notifications .

Update - after letting it go to zero & running a RESET, twice - this seems to have worked! I still have all features off, but the battery run-down is much more in line with what I would expect 10-15% per day so far. Thanks

Are you referring to my five that I returned? Or another five with the same problem.
Please explain how that sequence would solve a battery drain problem..

I am an engineer..

Thanks

I have just experienced this same problem I received my charge 5 as a Christmas gift this year and loved it! I noticed yesterday it was depleted and charged it. It was at 100% this morning and within 3 hours it was dead! This happened repeatedly throughout the day. I checked all the troubleshooting tips including the ones mentioned in this threat! So discouraged. My husband and I were going on a three day kayaking trip and I can’t record any stats now. And to top it off, no proof of purchase. 7 months as a viable product is very disappointing!

------------

How long had you had it? And did you have the receipt? Mine was a gift so no receipt and I’ve had it for 7 months. It was perfect 2 days ago and now it drains between 2-3 hours. I don’t have any bells or whistles running on it. Just the basics. So disappointed.

Yes, I have which I posted as well. I eagerly await my replacement and
appreciate the quick response. I’m cautiously optimistic that the new one
will work as advertised. I’ve really come to rely on the device.

I got it and put it on the charger right away. It charged to 86% after 4
hours. I’ve been wearing it for 4 days and it’s at 30% now so that’s an
improvement over the other one already. Not sure why it didnt charge the
full 100 but we will see how it goes. I haven’t installed the update yet. A
little nervous to do that with all the issues others seem to be having
after an update but I think I’ll chance it tomorrow! Fingers crossed!

I returned my first Charge 5 when it stopped holding its charge after about 5 months... my second one is going the same way and I've only had it 3 months....I think there is an underlying problem....

@ypevie Let me know if you continue to experience the same to charge your device to 100% and if your device is working properly after the update.

@OB1542 @Lymmeln I'm sorry to see that you're experiencing this inconvenience with your Charge 5. If you already tried all the steps mentioned here earlier to improve battery life in general, please make sure to try restarting your device using the charging cable as well:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
  4.  If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds to try again.

I'll be around.

So far so good! I’m getting a solid week or more out of it even after the
update. I’m not using a lot of the options like gps so that helps but I’m
so glad to have it back. Fingers crossed it lasts!

I did this and all of the other suggestions and only minor improvement (now drains in 2-3 days instead of one). What should I do? Return it for a refund?

I sent them a message on twitter and they sent a new electronic bit and I
swapped the straps.

I don’t use twitter. I guess I could start, but hopefully that’s not the only option.

Hi,

I have the same issue. I charged my fitbit charge 5 until 95% and when I unplugged from the charger the battery drained instantly to 1%. This just happened this week after I used it for 6+months. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please provide a few more details about this inconvenience? Let me know how fast is the battery draining in your device or if you've been using any specific feature that you've noticed makes the battery drain faster than usual.
