I swam on 2 consecutive days.

The screen went blank after 2nd day, decided to let it dry out before recharging.

Connected it to the   charger started flashing a light green screen & now its dead as a dodo.

Hi everyone, and welcome to all the new users in the Fitbit Community.

I appreciate all the comments that you've provided here about the Charge 5 not responding after swimming.

As some of you mentioned earlier, the Charge 5 is water resistant to 50 meters and you should be able use it to track your swimming activity. If your display is not responding after using it under water, please make sure to get in touch with the Customer Support team so they can provide you with further assistance and let you know about the options available for you. You can click here to get connected and chat with them or to call them directly.

In the meantime, make sure to follow the steps listed here in case you have an issue related to the battery not charging properly and check the recommendations in the Wear and Care guide

Swam for approximately 15 minutes, mine is dead as a dodo as well.

I got it late last year, they should replace it as it's still warranty,
right ?

I coach a swim team and was pushed in the pool.  Gave in and swam for 40 minutes.  Fitbit Charge 5 won't even take a charge!  Very frustrating as my Fitbit 4 is still working but the plastic watch attachment to the strap broke.

I just had the same thing happen to me.  Used water lock with swim tracker for two very brief swims.  Fitbit screen hal worked but eventually died.  Very disappointing.  I am now waiting for my replacement as it is still under warranty.

Same issue happened to me today. Went for a very brief swim (less than 15 minutes) in water no more than 4 ft deep. Screen flashed at first and now is dead. I am eligible for a replacement. Will not be swimming with this new Charge 5.

Had similar issue. After the second day I swam, Fitbit died and won’t charge. Tried all the tricks and nothing. May be out of warranty but will still file a complaint

Same here for both Fitbits.

Same for me. Went in the ocean - shallow water - and now it’s dead. I had turned on the water lock prior to going in.

I've been in touch with Customer Support. Seems like they are going to replace it.

That’s good to hear. I’m going to message them.

I've been afraid to get my charge 5 wet for this reason. Now I'll definitely avoid getting it in the pool 😐

Oh my god! Same thing happened to me! I even had it on water lock. I felt it do a vibration and a bunch of text was on the screen and I didn't get a chance to read it and then it went dead. The green light lights up and when I do a reset on the button on the charger the screen will light up with the Fitbit logo but then nothing happens.

How did you do that?

Thank you so much for making this post and everybody else's comments. I just did the chat with customer service and they're sending me a return label for the pebble and said they will send me a new one.

I didn't need to produce a receipt or anything I just had to remember what store I bought it at and my email for my Fitbit account.

So I say if this happened to you chat them up or call and see what happens because it was advertised as waterproof and I even had it on water locks so I don't see why there should have been a problem. I got that particular model for that reason. And if they hadn't been able to adequately assist me with the replacement then I would have been going with Samsung.

How did you contact Fitbit to get a replacement?  My Charge5 screen has gone black after swimming but I can't find any way to contact Fitbit to complain and get a new device.

Best Answer

I contacted Fitbit Customer Service through the app.  They have a live chat you can use.  After trying to fix my watch, they offered to replace it since mine was still under warranty.  If it was not under warranty, they likely would have offered me a discount on my next purchase.

Mine stopped working after on the bathroom counter during a very long and steamy shower. Could hardly believe that caused a "swim-proof" model to stop working until I came across these comments here.
