I swim but I have not swam 50 miles. So why is my charge 5 display is like a dull yellowish display instead of bright sharp colors? You have to hit the display then wait and wait for the display to slowly appear. But it still tracts for the app. Is this due to water?Anyone else have this trouble?

I mailed it back the same day I got the free postage label through email. That was 2.5 weeks ago. Just wondering if you know when I will be getting a new one back? I am wearing my old one but it's just not as good especially all the health features on a Charge 5

Actually, I contacted them because I had a 2 way log in protection but I have a new cellphone number which messed that up.
Anyway, my Fitbit works fine now. I did try the advice on this forum: change the clock feature, let it get completely out of juice, then charge it again. I was waiting while my phone still had 17% to go to be out of charge, when I looked down and it was all bright colors again, working perfect again. I think honestly it took this long to get completely dry. I swim again Monday morning but not Tuesday( cut grass that day) Then swim Wednesday, Thursday. So I will see if it goes out again. Hopefully not.

Thanks for your status. My screen has gone totally blank also. It does show full charge once connected to charger. I now wonder if it is due to my swimming the 3 days i have owned it. Hopefully it will dry out and work again like you. I am curious if yours goes out again after your next swim.
Please keep us updated. Thanks

I'm glad to hear that your Fitbit Charge 5 is working fine again. Thank you for letting us know.
Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Pbc6212.
Water resistance may diminish over time and can be negatively impacted by any of the following:
If your device gets wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. If your device comes into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser (like Cetaphil) and dry it with a lint free-cloth.
If your Charge 5 doesn't turn on, please follow these troubleshooting steps.
Hope this helps.

I do 16 laps in the pool, and always take it off to dry when I get home as I have to shower to get all the chlorine off. I never have It on when in the shower. But I was trying all the suggestions here and I believe letting it go to 0 charge, then recharge was the best. Today, I swam and it was showing its bright colors when I checked it. I am gone a week coming up soon and will not ( gulp!) be swimming. But one item you mentioned may have been the problem. I cut grass with the push mower and it's been horribly hot, so used spray on sunscreen with my fitbit on. That may have messed it up. Thanks.☺

My fitbit didn't go out. I looked at it once, to check in the pool, and that bright colored clock was glowing in the water. So hoping this continued.

Thanks for update. I will let my battery totally deplete to 0 before recharging . Hopefully the screen will display then. 🤞

Well it's absolutely dead now. I swam this morning, it was glowing. I took it off and let it dry completely, I put it on the charger and it said 54%. That was a lower percentage than usual. After breakfast, I checked it and it said 100% color full green. Checking the app, it's still 100%, but at 11:47 was the last time it tracked. Crap! It's just absolutely dead now. Black screen. Nothing.

Since 4th of June my fitbit shows green horizontal stripes. No screen details. Like an old TV screen stuck in twilight zone. The original screen came back semi transparent after clicking screen several times. That kept happening till today.Today screen full black, no response, shows 100% charged in fitbit app. I am so disappointed 😞

Talk to Fitbit live! Tell them what happened, where you bought it,etc. The guy did a system check of my fitbit and deemed it dead. They are sending me a new fitbit charge 5. They emailed me a free postage mailing label, I have to mail it to the address on the mailing label and 5 to 10 days after they receive it, I get a new fitbit!

Yes got it back the end of July I believe. IT works great but I am better at making sure it's working while I swim. First, after swimming and rushing home to get ready for work, the first thing I do is take off that fitbit, put it on my bed while my overhead fan is on. I take my shower, then (lubricate.....as chlorine dries out your skin) but I continue to let that fitbit dry while I feed cats, eat breakfast, pray and then when I get dressed, that's when I put on that fitbit and it's dry. Now cutting grass, pushmower, in this horrible humidity, and heat, you have to protect yourself with sunscreen. So I spray but when I get to my left arm, I cover my fitbit then spray my arm. I heard not drying it fully or spraying sunscreen on it are both problems for your fitbit.
