Charge 5 doesn't have a Wi-Fi option

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm confused. Upon searching online, I found fitbit.com content that my Fitbit Charge 5 tracker should have the ability to accept calls and see text messages if I have wifi set up..

BUT, upon going to my watch tile in Fitbit app, there is NO WIFI option available. Yet when I search further, people have commented on various sites in a manner that says that they were able to set up wifi.

What am I missing here? I bought this Charge 5 today. Why can I not see any Wifi option? I have the device paired to a Samsung Galaxy S21+ smartphone.

thanks in advance

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @rkdash!

I'm sorry to say but there must have been some misunderstanding as Charge 5 doesn't have WiFi and isn't able to do phone calls over your phone. But of course you can receive text notifications on your device over a Bluetooth connection to your phone. On current Fitbit lineup you would need a Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense, Sense 2 or Pixel Watch to receive phone calls on your wrist over Bluetooth.

If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can rely on Fitbit's return policy up to 45 days after purchase. Please have a look here for more details:

Hi there, @rkdash. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post.

To connect your Charge 5 to Wi-Fi, please see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?

As @Talahthas has mentioned, you don't need Wi-Fi to receive notifications. For more information, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

On the other hand, note with Sense, Sense 2, Versa 3, and Versa 4 you can take calls from your wrist, but not with the Charge 5. More information can be found here.

Hi @rkdash

Please disregard the reply from MarreFitbit. As @Talahthas mentioned, the Charge 5 does not have the option to connect to WiFi .

With your Charge 5 paired to your Samsung smartphone, you can receive notifications for calls & texts. When you receive a notification for a call on your Charge 5, there's an option to accept the call. However, doing so will accept the call on your phone. The Charge 5 does not have a speaker or a microphone.

When you receive notification about a new text, you should be able to read the text on your Charge 5. If there are pictures, you won't see the picture on your Charge 5; you'll just see the word "Picture" in the notification. There are very limited options for responding to the text available from your Charge 5, if you have an Android phone.

You can click on this link to get more detailed information: Notifications from your phone on the Charge 5

Hope this helps clear up the confusion.

Thanks, but fitbit.com's own written content speaks about setting up Wifi on the Charge 5. Even the moderator who commented on this conversation provides a link to the exact same content I'm talking about. So they are contradicting you but are actually wrong.

You're saying there's no such option, which is what I am experiencing, but Fitbit/ Fitbit moderator is saying there is.

Anyways, that said, I tested call notifications yesterday by calling my paired Samsung phone and no alert happened on my Fitbit device. But I reset all the notifications switches again yesterday and today I got all types of notifications (and regret it 😛 )

You are linking me to the same page that I actually am writing about. There is no Wifi capability on the Charge 5. But I did manage to finally get call, text and email notifications by manually turning them off and then on again. (And will be turning them off - info overload)

Thanks, I did finally get all notifications and instantly regretted it today 🙂

I don't really need to make calls on my Fitbit (I have an Apple Watch for that) -- I just was under the impression yesterday that Charge 5 had the calls to handle calls and texts -- not just accept/ deny them
