I have been a fitbit owner since 2015, and up until recently have loved the product. I pre-ordered the charge 5 and was super excited with it. Unfortunately, it died and was replaced in July of 2022 while still within warrantee. I went on vacation last week and was finally able to swim with the tracker, but it once again died after swimming. Since it is now it of the original warrantee, even though the device itself is less than a year old, I am only being offered 35% discount on the purchase of a new device. I am extremely disappointed and hesitant to purchase another that seems likely to fail as well, and am considering a Galaxy watch. Has anyone else had experience with either?

My Charge 5 failed very shortly after the warranty expired. I was already unhappy with the device as a swim tracker since it did not show laps or distance on the screen, nor did it provide an accurate lap count. Since my primary need was for a swim tracker, I purchased a Garmin Swim 2. It does not have as many options for tracking a variety of other exercises as the Charge 5 does, but it is outstanding as a swim tracker. Provides far more information than the Charge 5 and shows distance completed in real time. It also monitors heart rate while swimming and provides far more extensive stats when done. The 35% discount offered on a new Charge 5 cannot be used in conjunction with any other price reduction, so you would still be paying more with the discount than you would if you just bought a Charge 5 on sale.

Thank you so much for the information! I've got some thinking to do before making another purchase, or two — sounds like each may have its own specialty! And thanks too for the heads up on the sale price! I probably would not have thought of that.
