Charge 5 firm double tap impossible

Got a Charge 5 last week brand new, pretty happy with it except for

a) The automatic screen wake registration is poor and sometimes does not trigger

b) The water lock "firmly double tap" is near impossible to activate!

I'm basically whaling on my screen trying to get water lock either on or off and it seems completely haphazard as to what triggers it, irritating when showering and not at all what i expect from a brand new watch

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @b0bafe11

Thank you for sharing this information about the inconveniences that you've been experiencing with your Charge 5.

I understand how you are feeling and appreciate your feedback. Our team is always working on our products and services, and your comments are always appreciated. If you're still having trouble with the screen wake feature not working, I recommend that you try restarting your device using the three pulse restart method:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times, pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

Regarding the difficulty to get out of the water lock, I believe that it’s supposed to be a bit difficult so you can’t turn it on and off accidentally and it has to be a deliberate effort to turn it on or off. For more information about the water lock, see the Water Lock section in How do I navigate my Fitbit device?

Other users have also mentioned that using two or more fingers to firmly double tap has made it much easier for them (using the pads of my fingers).

Have a good day.
