Charge 5 for Pickleball/Tennis?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Looking for a smaller fitness tracker to wear when I play pickleball/tennis to track my heartrate, steps, calories, and gives me notifications.

Will the Charge 5 hold up to the constant jarring that occurs every time I hit the ball (four days a week, 3+ hours each day)?

Also, the Charge 5 is waterproof and can be worn in the shower, correct?

Is there any better fitness tracker out there for under $130?

Thank you for your help!

Hello @TripleB1967

You can definitely wear it in the shower as it is waterproof and people wear theirs to go swimming.

As for the jarring from pickle ball/tennis, the best answer would probably be: I don’t know but how about wearing it on your non-dominant hand when you’re playing?  That way you wouldn’t be putting lots of stress on it.

The Charge 5 is quite slim and I wear my mine on my ‘wrong’ hand and a normal watch on my left and I haven’t felt uncomfortable with that at all.  I take my watch off all the time because it’s quite big, but my Charge 5 is comfortable enough to sleep with.

As for trackers with a similar profile and price, I’m not sure there are as yet.  You can get a similar size but no GPS, or a cheaper price and more functions but much bigger and bulkier…

I hope that helps a bit.

I have the Charge 5 and wear it on my non-dominant hand.  Playing Pickleball is no issue.  However, and my biggest complaint is that there's not an option to add "Pickleball" as a sport on the watch itself.  So, I select "Workout" and then after syncing, edit it to "Pickleball" in the Fitbit website.  It's also not editable via the Fitbit app on my Android phone. The other consideration is the strap.  I use the cloth strap that has velcro.  It seems to stay put a bit better.
