Charge 5 has 1 day charge after automatic update at end of September

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was getting 4-5 day per charge until the end of September 2023.  Now I am lucky to make it through the day.  I have to charge it every night to get my sleep data.  What happened?

FITBIT/GOOGLE: PLEASE FIX THIS!!!! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. It has to have something to do with latest app and/or firmware update. All was working great before the updates.
My Charge 5 battery has been draining like crazy, very frustrating. Totally throwing off my exercise tracking & routine, heart rate, calories & sleep tracking that I have come to rely on. Battery has gone dead in middle of my exercise and in middle of night several times. Charged my Charge 5 yesterday evening to 100%. Actually had to charge it twice yesterday. It drained to 77% at bedtime. Battery was dead by 3:40am. I got up in middle of night to charge my Charge 5. This morning 9am it was fully charged at 100%. By 1pm it was at 35%. HELP!!!!

I just want to add that I’m having the exact same issue and agree that this is not acceptable.

The main reason that I purchased a Fitbit (rather the another popular brand’s smartwatch) was because I wouldn’t need to charge it every day. The sleep tracking data is very important to me and it died a little after 1:30 am; it had a 55% battery level earlier that evening. I usually get at least 2 days out of a charge % in the 50s.

This morning I charged it to 74% before I had to put it back on. Within 45 minutes it was already down to 63%!

Same issue.

I too get less than 6 hours of use before battery is completely drained. Very frustrating. Have attempted to reach out to Fitbit support live chat, available 24 hours, without anyone reaching out. I am very disappointed with the product after the latest update that I installed early September.

We got online, but so far nothing is working.  We did not change anything on my Charge5.  We were shown how to reboot the watch, and recommended to make sure the communication with the watch is minimal.  So far no admitting that our 3 month old watch has a problem from the app update.

Good Luck Dee.  Basically the same issues here.  I dug out my old Flex2 ... go figure it still works and holds a charge.

My son got one for his birthday ... good thing mine bricked before we opened his which allowed us to return his Charge5 NIB with no issues, other than not having a fitness tracker.

What software version is it?

Fitbit 4.00 (40073025).  The problem came up immediately after her screen changed on the Fitbit and on the APP.  It happened the last few days of September.

I’m the same with mine. It’s dead by morning. I’ve done everything that they advise. Fitbit up to date.

Same here...i just got my charge 5 less than a month ago. Was working fine until yesterday (5th Oct 2023).

Besides the firmware update, i also noticed the green light sensor is lighted up non-stop...not even blinking!

Tried various ways to get it turned off (turning off the heart rate setting / restarting / resetting / uninstall & re-install my apps even), but nothing seems to work...

I’ve been on chat to fitbit and apparently they can check you fitbit?? He reckons mine has a faulty battery and has sent me a link to get a replacement free of charge.

I had to tell him where I bought it from then he went off to check and came back with his findings. I’ll sort it out later and see how I get on.

Same problem but perhaps worse. For the past few days it will occasionally charge then the screen blacks out after a few hours. I have intermittent success getting the device to recharge. I'm moving on to an Apple Watch. This is my second Charge 5. The first died after a 22 meter scuba dive (supposedly tested to that depth). A replacement was provided but still very glitchy. They've lost my business.

Bnay - Not sure why, but the watch is taking a charge for the last 2 days.
I am at 82% after 2 days of use. I did plug my Charge 5 cable into an
aftermarket optimizing charger my husband purchased for his iPhone. I let
the Charge 5 completely discharge and plugged it in until it said 100%. It
has worked since. Maybe an update was done by Google, who knows.

I'm having the same issue here for what it's worth. Will try contacting support but I'm a few months out of warranty. It sounds like this should be a clear cut case of a broken update somewhere so I'm surprised there isn't any official post given that so many people are complaining.

I have exactly the same issue after the latest App update. My Charge 5 battery which last 5 days earlier won't last 30 minutes now! I am not sure if #Fitbit guys are doing some thing! It's been a week and nothing!
