Charge 5 heart rate zone calculation inaccurate for my age

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm over 70 but my heart rate zones are too high, e.g. moderate exercise threshold is 90 (appropriate for a 40 year old).  Is there a way to fix the default heart rate zones without having to use custom zones?  (My birth year is entered correctly).

Moderator edit: clarified subject.

Perhaps you have recently upgraded to a newer Fitbit device.  These use a newer formula to calculate the heart rate zones that takes into account your resting heart rate.  It does make the zones harder to achieve for most people.

You can read about these formulas here: How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device?  and scroll down to the section titled

What are Heart Rate Zones?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
