Charge 5 is logging steps even when I have lost it a month ago

I lost my Fitbit charger 5 a month or so ago.. 

It wasn't logging steps on my Fitbit phone app between losing the Fitbit and upto the last week..where all of a sudden over the last week it has been logging random amounts of steps ranging between zero and 11000.

I thought I lost the fitbit miles away from where I live so wouldn't be in range.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Hi there, @Buzz14. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your step count. I understand where your concern is coming from, I will be glad to help you with this! 

To better assist you, may I know if you have MobileTrack also linked to your Fitbit account? If you do, please note that MobileTrack could be tracking those extra steps. To verify this, please in the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab > then tap Devices. In this section you'll see your Versa 4 and below your phone (in case MobileTrack is indeed connected). 

If the above describes your situation, you can remove MobileTrack by tapping on the phone's icon and then select "Remove From Account".
