Charge 5 is tracking my AZM way off

Yesterday my Fitbit charge 5 tracked my heart rate at almost double what it actually was for most of the day.   As a result, I had over 700 active minutes by afternoon, while sitting at my desk working.   I restarted it and it seemed fine until this morning.  I got up at 5:00 am and by 5:45 am, I had 34 AZM, while sitting.......

Hi there, @Shell412. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is tracking your heart rate and AZM way too high. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As you may know, Active Zone Minutes are based on your heart rate and whenever your heart rate reaches one of the 3 ranges, your Fitbit will start recording Active Zone Minutes. What kind of work were you doing at your desk when this happened? There are scenarios when you could be watching an intense movie or playing a computer/VR game that gets your heart racing which would result in Active Zone Minutes. Activities like house cleaning, cooking, or washing dishes could also result in Active Zone minutes.

If you're having inaccurate heart rate readings after this specific situation, please see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

I am at my desk working. Clicking a mouse, using a keyboard and sitting in
virtual meetings. This isn't anything out of the ordinary and is my daily
routine. Nothing has changed. I watched it add 24 minutes of Active Zone
minutes while I sat in a virtual meeting with no activity today,

@Shell412 Thanks for the details provided.

I'd like to ask if by any chance you're
close to a fan or something that may cause vibrations while being in at your desk? Keep in mind that your watch may have detected those vibrations as your heart rate.

In addition, I'd suggest resetting the heart rate settings on your Charge 5 by following the steps below:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your Charge 5, from the main screen of your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > Heart Rate > tap to turn the setting OFF.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your Charge 5. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your Fitbit device's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your Charge 5 once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your Charge 5.
  • Next, confirm that your tracker is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible). We also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the tracker just above the wrist bone.

Thank you for the instructions.  I followed them,  I just sat here for five minutes not moving and watch it add three minutes to my AZMs.    My working environment has not changed.  There is no fan.  Up until a few days ago, this wasn't an issue and I have been wearing this Fitbit Charge 5 for well over a year.  Thoughts?
