Charge 5 is tracking too many active zone minutes

My Charge 5 is telling me I'm earning zone minutes when I'm barely doing anything,  say hanging out the washing, or doing the washing up!  How does it measure these minutes?  Is it heart rate based? Because my HR doesn't appear to be significantly increased.

It also records steps while I'm sleeping and driving, which really makes me question the accuracy of the device.  My Samsung phone app is able to recognise driving and doesn't record any steps, so surely a dedicated device should be at least as capable?

Zone minutes are based strictly on heart rate.  Tap the Zone Minutes circle on phone app to see you heart rate zones.  You get zone minutes for any time your heart rate is above lower limit of fat burn zone.

Thanks for the reply. It would be good to think I'm apparently burning so much fat just generally moving around!

The link was useful for other queries, but states that it shouldn't add steps when driving,  but it does... and not just a few!

I've recently upgraded from a Flex, which didn't ever add extra steps either when I was sleeping or driving.  I bought the Charge for the HR info, but questioning its accuracy if it doesn't even get step count right...I will probably go back to using my old Flex.

Maybe I have got a faulty device, but I don't live in the country where I bought it so can't really return it.
