To add to the woes of how appalling a charge 5 is.
this evening on a motorbike ride it has recorded the activity as “outdoor cycling”!?!? WHAT!?
also, my battery was on 80% charge last night and it’s currently on 23%.
awful.

Hello there, @Thebigjan85. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the issues with your Charge 5.
Regarding outdoor cycling, do you use SmartTrack to track your activities? If you did not manually started any activity directly from your Charge 5, so then, it seems like SmartTrack detected your motorcycle ride as outdoor cycling.
Please note wrist Fitbit devices count steps depending on the movement of your arms. Fitbit has worked hard to make sure that our devices do not pick up false steps or activity recordings while driving. Also, if you place it in a surface with something vibrating or if you make hard hand movements. You can learn more about how your Fitbit tracks steps by checking the article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?
If you want to remove the steps from your daily total, manually log the driving activity for the time you were in a motorcycle. For more information, see How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?
About the battery, if you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article to improve battery life in general, as this has been generally useful for other users. In addition, please complete a three pulse restart following the steps listed here below:
The battery can last up to 7 days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary, but the battery shouldn't be draining only after a few hours.

This always has been the case. Fitbit never have fixed the issue with battery drain despite what patch said. After finishing exercise battery keep draining. I think GPS is still the cause of issue and it being kept on.
Sometimes restarting device from option prevent the drain, but somethings it doesn't work. As of late, after exercise I plug it to charging cable and make sure it displays charging screen for a moment. That seem to work well to reset whatever wrong with the device.

Hi.
thanks for your reply.
the “SmartTrack” isn’t particularly smart then is it!? If it detects driving and motorcycling as “outdoor cycling”. Maybe a new name needs to be thought about.
I have tried the 3 button press reset, and still, the battery drains by 40 to 50% each day. This is with everything turned off other than HR and with the screen being blank.
It is just not fit for purpose. In any way shape or form. For £130, Fitbit really need to sort out the extensive issues with this device. The internet is full of disappointed and dissatisfied customers.
