Charge 5 isn't syncing my data to my Fitbit app

Been a Fitbit user for 3 years. For a lot of that time everything worked fine. I was using a Charge 4 but then gps, distance, pace all went very wrong. I walk at a pace of 17m 30s per mile and for 2 miles. Pretty easy to work out my pace but the 4 or app thought it ought to be anything between 35 and 55 m per mile! So first I deleted the app and re-installed it (3 times), made no difference, still the same random numbers with no mathematical basis. Then I thought it must be the watch so I upgraded to a Charge 5. Went for walk this morning and set both the app and watch off at the start. The watch recorded 👌 but the app, even after syncing, has again recorded random data. The app is basically useless.Unless I can sort it I will be saying goodbye to Fitbit.

Hello there, @Granemja. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products into consideration.

To better assist you, would you mind letting me know if you use the Fitbit app to track your GPS data? For more information about this, please see How do I use GPS on my FItbit device?

Nevertheless, I'd recommend double checking that your Charge 5 was properly linked to your Fitbit account after upgrading your Charge 4. To do so, follow the steps below:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 and old Charge 4 from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your new Charge 5 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.

Thanks for your reply. I do use the app to track my gps data although this morning I used both. When I start a walk I open the track and wait for the gps to connect and turn green. I kept the phone in my hand this morning to make sure gps had good access. From the map I can tell that after 10 mins gps went hay-wire. GPS is good in my area and I have no trouble with any other GPS device. I will try your suggestion and post the result later.

@MarreFitbit I tried your suggestion and went on my 30 minute walk. It hasn't worked. It recorded the 2 mile walk at 0.74 miles and a pace of 45 minutes per mile! 🙄 Yet the time for the walk was perfect. Is there a particular app for the Charge 5 or does one app fit all? For sure the app is cr*p.

I am having the same problem with my charge 5. It has been acting up the last two weeks. Yesterday when I was mowing grass I was checking for the time. It had the Fitbit icon . And now it is not working & I can not sync up to my phone.
