My charge 5 logged correct steps yesterday but miles were TOTALLY incorrect! Nothing had changed and it's doing the same today.

Hi there, @cltread. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the issue with your Charge 5.

Fitbit devices use the formula below to calculate distance. Your stride length is determined by your height and sex. Steps x Stride Length = Distance Traveled

Please note when you track an activity with GPS, your device calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, your device calculates distance using your steps until GPS connects.

To update your stride length, track a run with GPS or measure your stride length manually. For more information, see Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

For more information about GPS, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

The GPS tracking is erratic the last 2 days and the mileage is incorrect for the number of steps. I done a restart on the Fitbit watch and I don't know if this will help. Does the GPS software malfunction?

@cltread Thanks for those details.

To better assist you, may I know if you're tracking the same activity and if you're going to the same route?

Please bear in mind that if the GPS signal is lost during the exercise, a map might not appear in the Fitbit app. If you're having issues with the GPS connection, see How do I get my Fitbit device to connect to GPS?

My route is the same. I took my phone today and had it on dynamic and the path iwasn't erratic. I'm going to try again later without the phone to see if it's the internal GPS that is not working correctly. Signal is not lost during walk.
