For several weeks now my Charge 5 freezes for no apparent reason. Yesterday it was 4 pm. When attached to the charger it unfreezes. Don't even need to do the 3-press-of-button restart. It also has the battery drain issue.
I've done hard resets, uninstalled and reinstalled the app and every other trick I could find online.
The Charge 5 was the best fitness tracker I ever used. Now, the sucker is just useless.
Also, it looks like someone else had a similar issue: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-5/Charge-5-step-count-stopped-midday/m-p/5363882 It would have been nice to just add my comment on. Imagine all posts about a particular problem in one place.

No, I'm sorry, Support did not solve my problem. The Charge 5 works fine, as long as I don't move. For several days I was ill and not moving much. The Charge worked impeccably. Today I went out. Walking around town, covered a couple of miles between 6 and 7. After 45 steps at 6:00pm, it froze, and remained frozen until I got home 5 hours later and attached the charging cable. It woke up immediately, but none of my activity after 6:00pm was recorded.
This is a hardware problem. The device is 17 months old. I am beyond disappointed.
