Hi, recently my Fitbit Charge 5 has started insisting that I'm not falling asleep until morning. I typically go to bed around 8-8:30pm and get up at 7am, and while it does take me a while to fall asleep, I am positive I'm getting at least some sleep before the time when Fitbit says I'm falling asleep. Every day, Fitbit says I'm not falling asleep until sometime between 4-5am??? It also often says I wake up about an hour before the alarm wakes me up. But since the alarm wakes me up, that means I was still asleep... 😞
I tried searching the help forums and all I found was repeated suggestions to set the sleep sensitivity to normal.
Yes, I have triple-checked and my Fitbit is set to NORMAL, not sensitive. I even tried switching it to sensitive for a night, then switching back to normal, just to make SURE it was set to normal.
Yes, the tracker is set to my DOMINANT hand (although I've tried both).
I am wearing the wristband very snugly.
I am wearing my tracker on the same wrist that I have always worn. I have tried a different type of wristband (sport vs. infinity), and at first that seemed to fix the problem... then after a few months, suddenly the problem got WORSE than it ever was before. Now no matter what wristband I wear, it says I'm not getting to sleep until 4-5 am.
Yes, I have restarted the fitbit several times and it is fully charged. I am syncing with the fitbit app on my Samsung Galaxy S10. The app is up to date.
Once in a while, it will list an additional hour or so of sleep below the "total sleep" section; as mentioned in other posts, that small amount is for some inexplicable and ridiculous reason not included in the "sleep total". But even that says I'm not falling asleep until around 2am. So now there are TWO sleep tracking issues.
Yes, I have restarted my phone too.
The main reason I got this fitbit was to help track my sleep. But these immense inaccuracies make it completely useless and a complete waste of time (don't even get me started on how inaccurate and unhelpful the activity detection/trackers are for exercise!!) - AND A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY MONEY.
Why can't I find any actual help on fitbit's help pages, and why hasn't this issue actually been resolved when people complain in the forums? Why can't I find ANY help for this issue, anywhere??
Oh, and YES - i also tried paying for the "pro" version which I agree with everyone else in these forums, is a complete waste of money and doesn't provide any additional useful information.
Please do NOT tell me that my device is set to sensitive mode. It is not. Please do not tell me to try the things I've already tried.
I just want to know why fitbit thinks I never go to sleep until 4am, when I know I'm falling asleep by 10pm.
Help! 😞
