My fitbit Charge 5 stopped charging a week ago. The screen says 1% battery life when attached to the charger but the number doesn't goes up, the few times it does move up the moment I take it off the charger it goes right back to saying 1%. I tried everything suggested when having a problem charging, different locations, cleaning the pins, resetting the device, nothing has worked. It still responds because it buzzes when I attach the charger and push the reset button on the cord. I hope someone can help me out.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Nemibg @BlueDancer.
Thanks for confirming that you're having the same problem with your Charge 5.
If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article. In addition, complete the three pulse restart procedure described here using the charging cable and let me know if the issue persists.

Dear Davide,
I have done everything mentioned in the links u have sent us, and nothing has changed. How long is the warranty on my device? It has been bought and of July 2022. Thank you

Here is what I have received form Fitbit support on my email. In my case nothing is working and solving my problem.
1. Clean the charging contacts on the back of your tracker to ensure they stay bronze or gold in color. To do so:
Use a toothpick or a toothbrush with fresh water.
Make sure not to scrape the contacts with a wire brush or anything metal, since this can damage the plating and cause corrosion.
If you use a toothbrush, dry with a cloth or tissue before charging.
2. Try a different USB port or UL-certified wall charger. Do not use a USB hub.
3. Restart your device pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons for 10 seconds. Then release the buttons.
If after the troubleshooting the issue persists, let us know if you are using the original charging cable.

I've been having a similar problem with my Charge 5. The battery life was shrinking over the last few months. Now, it shows 1%. It will charge to 99% but as soon as I take it off the charger, it goes back to 1%.
I've tried resetting the device, both on the device and charger button. It goes back to 1%. I tried cleaning the contacts.
The problem persists on my wife's Charge 5 charger, so I don't think that it is the charger.

Bumping this thread as this issue started on my Charge 5 yesterday too.
Blank screen and unresponsive. Plugging into several different cables (via wall, adapter, laptop, different ports) all result in vibrations and maybe the Fitbit logo briefly. Sometimes it will display a 1% charging screen.
I've tried all the suggestions here and on the links to no effect. The triple pulse doesn't work either.

I have also had this problem since February. I tried everything that was suggested, I have rebooted, and tried pressing the button on charger, as well as a factory reset along with charging on a different cable both in wall socket and USB port on power surge protector cord. And it still cannot charge past 99%, and if it is taken off it will die, there is absolutely no charge. I hope they can find a remedy for this since I have only had the Charge 5 since last September of 2022. Just wanted to add to this thread since I saw that there are several affected in the fitbit community with the same problem.

Exactly the same problem. Charging status shows 1% and doesn't charge. Following this because I'm having the same issue.

Same for me today. Charged Thu to 100% and died today. Can feel it vibrate when I reset it but no display. Was ‘adding payment card’ constantly, even tho I was pressing nothing. Weird. Device now useless.

Hi,
Apparently it is some fault series that has been issued that time of the year. I have bought my one Avgust 2022. You have to try and communicate with Fitbit and ask for new device. It is the only solution, since the device once in that stage is useless.
Ask for new device.
Best regards

My Charge 5 is older than 12 months so they only offered 35% off new device (with some devices excluded).
I think I'm done with Fitbit if this is there only option for what appears to be a bug/defect affecting many of us.

I’ve been experiencing the same problem since last Wednesday. Before that, it held its charge for days.
Buzzes when connected and charges while connected. As soon as I unplug it, it turns off. Reconnect and it starts back at 1%. I left it on the charger when I went to work yesterday and it said it was at 99%. Unplugged it, screen went black and it started back at 1%
I followed all troubleshooting steps (cleaning contacts/changing cables/outlets, etc) and the hard reset and the problem persists. Mine a couple of years old so is outside of warranty now, but was working absolutely fine up until this point.
