My fitbit Charge 5 stopped charging a week ago. The screen says 1% battery life when attached to the charger but the number doesn't goes up, the few times it does move up the moment I take it off the charger it goes right back to saying 1%. I tried everything suggested when having a problem charging, different locations, cleaning the pins, resetting the device, nothing has worked. It still responds because it buzzes when I attach the charger and push the reset button on the cord. I hope someone can help me out.

Same problem. Just started today after not wearing the device for a day or so. Super frustrating. I bought mine in October of 2021 and have used it almost daily since then. Fortunately, the retailer I purchased it from offered a protection plan, which I also purchased. Trying to get it replaced through that, but I'm surprised FitBit won't do more, especially for those who haven't had their devices very long. Makes me rethink getting another one.

Hi everyone, thank you for all the information provided about the issue you experienced with your Charge 5 and the battery.
There are a few steps that are regularly useful with these type of issues. If you haven't done so already or if you're new to this thread, please make sure to try the steps mentioned here earlier. In case you have an unresponsive screen, you can also try changing the clock face option on your device in addition to the steps suggested.
If the issue persists, I do recommend that you get in touch with the Customer Support team here.

Davide - what if support doesn't do anything? Does fitbit expect all of it's loyal customers to just buy a new device even when fitbit is responsible for breaking our devices? That is a great way to lose a lot of customers. Thanks for nothing fitbit!

I did contact support. Apparently, they have no resolution for this issue. They suggested I purchase a new device. However, I'm not inclined to purchase another Charge 5 when there is a known problem that renders the device useless that can't be resolved.

I will not be buying another fitbit. I cant believe there is a known problem and they wont warranty or correct the device.
This is unbelievable the number of people having the same issue but fitbit will not correct it or stand behind their product. There really is no reason to buy another one and this one was to replace the ionic that had recall issues.

Same thing happens with my charge 5. Did all steps. Spoke with customer support chat. Did all steps. Did not work. They offered 35% off next Fitbit. Why would I spend anymore money on a faulty product? Reading these posts, clearly it’s a common issue. We should be able to mail in our defective fitbits and get it replaced.
I guess business is too good for the company to care about their reputation.
Fitbit do better please.
Same situation with me. 35% off is ridiculous. Why would I want to pay 65% of my money for a product that is defective? It’s not like I smashed it with a hammer and asked for a new one. It’s a common issue. I wonder how many more just tossed their new defective charge 5 and didn’t report?
we should be able to mail in out defective ones and have them replaced.
I guess I’ll have to give in and get an iwatch…

Hi @DavideFitbit, I'm also having the same problem and it's out of warranty anymore. But it was fine until last night and out of the ordinary it would just quit holding charge? And what to do with it now since it's out of warranty? No other advice after all the troubleshooting steps has been done? Your chat agents advising us to get a new one instead. What then? Have the same type of issue and doing it all over again? Pls advise, this is so sad.

My Charge 5 did the Same thing on August 6th out of the blue when that last update came. I call complete bullpucky, since I only charged my Fitbit every two weeks up until the last update. Support said I was one month out of Warranty and they gave me the 35% off
My Fitbit started glitching out after I synced and updated the device, and while it doesn’t glitch out anymore, the battery has stayed at 1 percent and dies instantly when removed from the charger. I’m calling it planned obsolescence with the new charge 6 coming out. Currently using my ancient Charge 2 since it’s actually reliable, and never pulled like the Charge 5
Never buying a Fitbit from you hacks again, paid $150 for a buggy, poorly made, and now useless device 13 months ago, and because your software update bricked my device overnight, you have the gall to offer me $52.50 towards another watch that will have the same problem once I leave the warranty period. I’m just gonna go back to using the gps on my phone to track runs!

Hey @DavideFitbit
that would be understandable but the matter of fact is that you don’t have an after market repair nor suggestions as what to do especially with troubles like this. If you intend to make it as a disposable device then you’d rather make it cheaper. Make sense right? You have a good day.

Has that same problem. I fixed it.
so this:
1) get a q tip, damp if a bit, and clean the metal part of the tracker (4 gold parts).
2) use other end of q tip to dry it off.
3) get a duster and spray the air onto it.
4) charge it! It works now.

Unfortunately, cleaning the contacts did not resolve the issue. That was the first thing I tried. Given the fact that support could not resolve the problem either, I suspect this is a software issue.

It’s frustrating that we are all having this problem. Looks like Fitbit only replaces if it’s within the one year warranty. I’m thankful I purchased a two year protection plan through an outside company, but that doesn’t change the fact that this product is clearly defective.
I purchased mine in 6/22, so it is less than a year and a half old. The best Fitbit would offer is a 35% discount on a replacement.
I won’t purchase from Fitbit again knowing the shelflife of their products.
