Charge 5 not syncing, not pairing with the Fitbit app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi I have been unable to sync my phone (Samsung Galaxy J6) to my charge 5 since 20/10/2024. It was working well prior to this date.

I have done all the steps in previous posts including:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.

  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.

  • Force quit the Fitbit app.

  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.

  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.

  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.

  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.

  • Setup your Fitbit device.

  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.

  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app multiple times, but it will not pick up my Charge 5 watch any more, and keeps telling me to try again, which I have also done.

I have turned the Bluetooth off, turned the phone off and restarted the devise multiple times with out resolution.

Have you tried 48.3 because it's worked for some of us.  Uninstalled 48.2, restarted phone, then installed the latest version which is 48.3. Did the normal sync routine and it worked. Phone is Samsung Galaxy A13.

Not only does it no longer sync.. the clock on my device no longer works.  It is 4 hrs and 7 minutes behind.  Curious!

Same here with the time.  Oddly too the app shows errant steps each day on its own.

Still working fine with 4.26, reluctant to go to 4.28.3 since it still seems inconsistent.

Hello everyone!

Thank you all so much for updating us on this situation. Our team has been looking for a solution and has recently launched a new version of the Fitbit app. Some users have reported that with this new version of the app they're able to sync their devices again.

Please try to update your Fitbit app to the 4.28.3 version. If it doesn't work, please restart your phone and try the steps of set up as new device again:

  1. Update the Fitbit App to 4.28.3
  2. Open the Fitbit app. On the Today tab, tap on Devices (Device icon, top left).
  3. Delete any connected Fitbit Trackers/SmartWatches, if any are shown.
  4. Go to Android Settings, Bluetooth (Connected Settings), and "Forget" any Fitbit Trackers/SmartWatches if any are shown.
  5. Restart your phone.
  6. Open the Fitbit app and re-add the Tracker/SmartWatch (via the Devices icon, top left). How do I set up my Fitbit device?
  7. From the Fitbit app, Today tab, Tap or Hold near to the top of the screen and then drag down to perform a manual sync.

Hi there @MasterMetz! @Rizzuto1954 Welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Thank you so much for informing us that you're still not able to sync your devices with your iPhones. I will inform our team about it.

Please, if anyone else is having difficulties syncing your trackers with the iOS Fitbit app let me know. If possible let me know the version you have too.

I thank all of you for helping us find a solution together! I will keep you all updated.

Same here. My whole family use fit bits and it's happening to there's too. Time to move to another manufacturer I reckon.

What really annoys me about this situation is that you knew there was a problem with the app and didnt notify us. A simple email or message on the app informing us of the issue and that you were working towards fixing it would have saved everyone a lot of time and annoyance. Very poor customer service right there.

100% right.
Hours for nothing, so many Charge 5 owners not even knowing that’s a Fitbit issue. Pretty poor.

I've given up. I've been a fit bit user for too many years. I have a different brand on the way. I've deleted the app and am about to delete my account. Not going to spend another dime on something that quits working so often.

Well after multiple updates, uninstalls, re-installs, daily trouble shooting actions, and transferring over to a google log on. I have now finally been able to sync my phone to my charge 5 once again. I hope others will have some success also. I also hope Google (fitbit) will work on their customer service as it has not been good.

Last night got a tease.  Android requested a password that showed up on the Charge5.  Put in the number, but still no sync.  Great job Google buying Fitbit!  Worried more about cloud & AI.  Will start looking at alternative trackers.
