Charge 5 not tracking heart rate and sleep

Looks like I am not the only one experiencing issue with the green light NOT working as it should, so poor results on heart rate tracking and sleep. I have an open case, but clearly this isn't going to be fixed over text or phone. Time to return this charge 5 and go back to my Charge 2?

Same here just got mine and sleep and heart rate don’t work through tattoos because the new charge 5 has less green lights on the rear so I would imagine there’s a lot of people returning there watches like I am

I did a full reset in mine yesterday and everything was working until i used the water lock feature and then turned off water lock... From that point on i lost heart rate tracking and that will also break sleep tracking

Since I got the Charge 5 3 weeks ago it has been a piece of crap. I am FURIOUS

Looks like you hit the nail on the head! I switched my Charge 5 from
tattooed non dominant left wrist to my not tattooed right wrist, made the
change in the settings and it worked fine all day yesterday tracking heart
rate and then sleep last night. Now I will need to decide if I mind wearing
this tracker on the wrong wrist, while my Charge 2,Amazfit T-rex and Garmin
have all work fine on the left.I guess Fitbit didn't make Charge 5 for the
ink'd.

You know I couldn’t decide between the amazfit gte pro 2 or Fitbit charge 5 the only thing that swayed it for me is the Fitbit had better reviews wish I’d gone with my instincts now but having said that I wasn’t to know it wouldn’t work on tattoos tbh it’s working great but I’m sleeved both arms so if I did want to check my bpm I can put it around my ankle the bonus I suppose is the ecg that’s ok but hey ho  maybe next year change it because there’s no firmware or software can fix this problem it would have to be redesigned with more green lights to be able to penetrate blank ink I know I could send it back but it was a Christmas gift from the wife so I don’t like upsetting anyone I can make do to keep everyone happy cheers for your reply looks like amazfit next year unless you know something about it that I need to know regards dave

Fitbit manufacturers are not telling people that this model will not work over tattoos and there’s a lot of people complaining about this particular model regards dave

It's strange, ever since I got it, it just shows these huge gaps in heart rate. It's back on track as of today.  But since I got it in early december, there are hours and hours of no heart rate tracking.  And yesterday even with over 20K steps, it showed hours of stationary activity, no red dots.  That is a new one!

It seems to me searching the entire internet there’s more problems with this watch that Fitbit themselves are not letting on will have to wait and see if they bow down to us all and recall them all back with a bit of luck or unless they bring out a brand new firmware but I can’t see that happening either

Probably wise to do that as a fix is not possible it can take up to 6months to re-model firmware

Well just to let a lot of people know I have now got and believe it or not an Amazfit GTS and it is perfect all the features works great even the heart bpm and ecg all running perfect and £50 less than the Fitbit charge 5 I’m over the moon what an impressive watch the amazfit is, I sent my Fitbit charge 5 back got a refund and bought the amazfit gts for £69.99 that’s after a £20 voucher deduction which all customers get but in reality Fitbit should definitely warn consumers that this watch will not work over any form of tattoos because lack of LED lights on the rear hope this helps future buyers

Will definitely not work over tattoos it hasn’t got enough led lights now I have a amazfit gts which works great over tattoos as it has more led lights on the rear and the app Zepp is better than the Fitbit app

Just to let you I’ve got the amazfit gts and it works fantastic over tattoos thanks to you I would have drowned myself in sorrow if you hadn’t posted your review the app Zepp works better than the Fitbit app and syncs ultra fast well pleased all round watch with super amoled screen big watch face 1.65 well chuffed
