Charge 5 not tracking hourly steps or heart rate on device

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got a charge 5, since putting it on my hourly 250 steps have not been tracking, even though I’ve hit my step goal every day.

also my active zone minutes are not tracking at all. I wore my old fitbit and new one on a walk and the old one had 45 zone minutes but the charge 5 had 0.

the heart rate is not showing anything on the device, but tracks it on the app on my phone.

it was on charge overnight, I went for a 10km walk with gps tracking and it was at 60%. Is it normal to use this amount of battery??

Hello @Danniivan

Sorry you're having problems.  I'm not sure if I can help with all of them, but I can try a bit.

The 250 steps problem.  Have you set it in the app on your phone?  If you select your profile picture from the main screen, then Charge 5, then scroll down to Reminders to Move.  Check that it's set to On. You can tap on it and then on the next screen you can toggle it on or off and also decide which hours you want to set reminders for.  After that, if you sync your Charge 5, they should show up on your tracker.

The active zone minutes are tied to your resting heart rate which is tracked when you're asleep.  If your heart rate isn't showing/measuring on your tracker, that could be the problem.

The heart rate issue. Scroll down from the main Clock face screen on your Charge 5 until you see Settings, tap on that and then scroll up until you see Heart Rate, check that that is toggled on, so that it shows as blue not grey.  That should start your heart rate measuring on your device.

If you wear it at night too, it can track your heart rate and find your resting heart rate.  You active zone minutes will be based on that.

Good luck!  I hope it helps.

Hi there, I have done everything you mentioned and still nothing. I noticed the heart rate monitor is just not working on me, my husband tried it on and it picked up his heart rate instantly. I do have tattoos, will this make a difference? I have never had any issues with my other Fitbits.

Hello again @Danniivan

I’m sorry to hear those things didn’t work for you.  It could be connected to tattoos.   If you check out this thread, it might help (or not).

Tattoos and Heart Rate

Have you tried wearing it a bit higher or lower on your wrist to miss the tattoo, or perhaps on the other wrist?

I hope you can find a way to get it to work for you.
