My Charge 5 stopped tracking my runs. It only works with connected GPS on my phone. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @eangelbe

I appreciate all the information provided about this inconvenience you're experiencing with your Charge 5.

Just to confirm, you're experiencing this problem specifically when you try to track your activity using built-in GPS, correct? Let me know if it's happening with other activities or only during your Runs.

In the meantime, make sure to follow the steps suggested in this article. All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. In particular, please make sure of the following:

  • That you are  in open sky and moderate trees
  • Adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS
  • Make sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS)

If you continue to experience the same behavior and your GPS is getting disconnected, make sure to try following the steps listed in this article to complete a restart, as this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end of the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

I'll be around.
